Center mount

Are you spending most of your time in the park?

Do you ski *only* park and know you want them center mounted? If not, no. the advantages of center mounting do not outweigh the disadvantages in other cases and (at least general) mount point recommendation on a ski is there for a reason

I like a good -4 from center. Depends how much time you’re in the park/ riding switch

might be the case, but might not. OP, do you ever ski fresh snow? do you care at all about carving, making good turns, driving your skis? if so you likely want to mount at recommended-- in fresh snow you don't want your tips diving at all, and mounting way up means you're not on the same part of the sidecut as the ski is designed for so you're losing some stats there

if you dgaf about that stuff, sure, center them. if you're unsure, go recommended or right between rec and center and then you have a good compromise

I’d do -1 2021 onwards is pretty symmetrical.

sadly got mine at recommended (-4) but moved them up to -1..... best decision if made the past season however if I got them new again i'd go center.

4cm back but don’t use that. If not mounted center I’d recommend 2cm back. Personally 4cm is too far back for a park ski

Recommended mount points aren’t randomly selected, they are where the ski is supposed to be skied.

That said, if you plan on having the skis until they snap then you could try different mount points and just move it if it doesn’t work for you.

On an unrelated note: I mounted a P18 CAST onto a Catamaran for true center for a guy this week. Some people just have a preference I guess…

Sean Pettit rode his dead center too. I mounted true for a long time and now that I’ve learned more about the theory of ski design there is absolutely 0 need to mount center on skis nowadays. When you’re skiing, all the control comes from pressure on the front of the ski. The same is applied when you’re skiing switch, you’re leaning uphill, not downhill. Nobody spends an equal amount of time skiing forwards and backwards and actually making turns. Skiing straight down a hill backwards is not the same as using your edges and skiing forwards and no body does that switch as much as they do forwards. Even my park skis I’m -2 or -2.5, there is no discernible difference in how they ski switch and they’re just better skiing forwards because I’m not fighting sidecut. Just my $0.02 but really it makes 0 sense from a ski design standpoint, that’s why there’s next to no fully, true symmetrical skis compared to 10 years ago.
