Watch Freehand on Level 1s youtube channel. Didnt make it to the premiere as it was on the west coast and im in NH but it was an 8 minute solo project he shot with Brady Perron. Dude is so fucking sick, the shit he can think about let alone execute is nuts. Its a dope video!

he hit a couple but a lot of it was either different urban features (different in the sense that its not the typical rail or drop) and backcountry stuff i thought it was dope

Perron deserves a huge amount of credit here too. That mans creative vision is just as insane as mangos, but illustrated so differently. The editing and shot selection in this created emotion and told a sick ass story. IMO this is the top of the year so far

yeah it wasn't as much of a huckfest as his realski but I think thats a good thing, seems like he was having fun skiing and that shows in the level of creativity

I was thinking about the same thing but then I realized it would be lame as fuck to expect every skier to pump out high-risk, redbull fueled cuts every time they drop something.

Like I know that younger me wouldn’t have enjoyed this as much as I did now but that’s because younger me cared more about seeing crazy x-games shit than creative art and self expression through skiing.

I’m glad street and pow skiing are getting more creative overall and IMO you can’t always be going after technical progression, fun projects like this are the ones that age well and are looked back upon fondly

I just wish they didnt fill in so much B-roll. The first 3 min of the edit was just waiting for the skiing to start.

I would say him and Jake Strassman make the prettiest ski films out there these days. I find myself going back to Nuance for the sheer beauty of the cinematography and beauty in Phil's skiing alone.
