Do you wear mouth guards?

Ive taken slams that I immediately feel in my jaw and thought damn i wish i was using a mouth guard but never actually go out and buy one

No but honestly probably should. Once I threw a 270 off a rail to switch and when I landed I noticed the park crew had taken the next feature out and there was a pile of death cookies where the take off use to be. As I reverted to avoid the death cookie mound I was a little back seat and went directly over it and it popped my knee up into my jaw and I bit a chunk of my tongue off on the side. This was during my high school race days and my coach had a melt down because I missed my run “for being a stupid park rat” fuck em I guess

I ski, mountain bike, and surf in a mouthguard 100% of the time. I have a history of concussions and anything that might help/protect me moving forward is a must.

Never worn one but seems like a smart idea. I wear a helmet 100% of the time because I don’t wanna hurt myself yk. But for some reason I don’t want to wear a mouthguard. Im not sure why. Maybe deep down I think it looks stupid. Or that it would bother me. Maybe it’s cuz I always like to chew gum when I ski. Might have to go get one and give it a shot tho, can’t hurt

Just here to say Im glad im not the only one to think about this. I've been out cold from slams before and Im sure a mouthgaurd would be beneficial.

I read somewhere that a lot of concussions are caused by your jaw slamming together. Idk if that is true but my buddy took a ski pole to the face on a landing once and knocked his front teeth out. I did the same move another time and caught my pole grip right under my chin that hurt like a mother fucker.

I’m a lifelong surfer / hitting your head is extremely easy to avoid for the most part.

When you hit your own board it’s gonna be relatively low impact too.

if you’re charging really big waves at a shallow break, I could see a mouth guard possibly helping. But at that point I think a helmet makes more sense. Barely anyone does though

Yes, my local dentist makes them for me. When properly fitted they are seamless and you barley notice them 👍🏼

If you are trying new things in the park or conditions are awful it’s a good idea. I wear mine about 30% of the time both mountain biking and skiing cause I have concussion history from sports when I was younger.

Yeah I wear one, they aren't annoying as long as you have water to drink and they're good for shots to your head + preventing tooth chips. I sound like a dunce trying to talk through it though

I wear a helmet too. I am a complete kook though. But like I said, I don’t have anymore concussions to give. So if it’s anything where I might fall, helmet and mouthguard.
