Help Deciding On an All Mountain/Park Ski 🥺

What's up NS,

Templating the gear recommendation example:

Hello, my name is Ian and I ski in the The Rocky Mountains (Utah primarily, but plan to get out to CO, WY etc.). I am an ADVANCE TYPE 3+ SKIER (ability level) that skis everything. But, what I'm looking for in this future pair of skis is a ski that's going to do well all-mountain and in some deeper softer snow with a lot of potential in the park. I am 23, 5'11, 155 pounds and my budget is (preferably) no more than $600 without bindings.

I'm coming from Faction Prodigy 2.0's 183cm (98 mm underfoot) and I love them to death. They're getting pretty beat up from the park but still have plenty of life in them. I want a fallback I can use in the park in case they STB but primarily want something that will handle a little more all mountain.

I'm currently looking at Faction Candide 2.0s 183cm (102mm underfoot) for the true twin & wider waist but I'm a little worried about going for something stiffer and almost a 1pd heavier than the Prodigy for park purposes. I'm also tempted by Line Blends (for something with more flex) but they definitely don't seem to have the same charge potential so def second on the list.

Any thoughts on what the best move might be would be super appreciated as would any recommendations outside of what I'm already looking for!

Okay, I sent some J Skis Vacations on a whim. Happy to hear any advice for future seasons but locked in now !

Thing folds in half as soon as you try to put your foot down on the gas but you’re locked in so 🤷‍♂️

I have the vacations in a 180 for my fun/screw around ski, and I will tell you they are definitely soft sticks. That said, you can rip on them if you want to since skiing hard is way more about how you ski rather than what you ski on. I would have recommended something like the reckoner 102 since you can take that in the park, but having a ski that can do both park and pow really well is a 2fer. Reckoner 112 is great for that according to the K2 guys I know though.

Sweet, thanks for your thoughts! The reckoner 112 seems to be a pretty solid ride but some complaints about durability, will keep my eye on it for sure though.

I think I'm gonna give these Vacations a shot because I've never skied anything with much play. Hopeful they don't disappoint across the mountain.

I'm riding the reckoner 112 every where and am loving it. Park on the east coast and some bowls out west it really is so much fun and does it all and still great at high speeds.

Sick, thanks for the info! You mind me asking your height/weight? Also how has the durability & flex been?

im 6'2" 185 pounds on the 185.

No issues at all durability! and flex is great. softer in the tips and tails like i like it.

Op mentioned candide 2.0. Is it me or did anyone else feel like these skis were pretty just OK? Kinda lifeless but not damp enough either. I rode the 2018, 3.0 a while back which was a 108 waist so not sure how much the ski has changed. Was an OK ski but I felt like there's way better options out there.

Get on eyes on the 4FRNT Devastator! This is our team's go to for a day at the resort. 108 underfoot keeps ya afloat in soft snow while aspen maple core with carbon strings keeps em poppy, snappy and light on your feet. Hit me up with any questions.
