BiffbarfI had no idea the made a new sth. Looks like it's mnc and has a wider afd too which is awesome. I wonder what the stack height is and what this switch is all about
animatorSupposedly one setting is for more direct edge control and response and the other one somehow makes it more damp and impact absorbing. Sounds almost like locking your rear suspension for the climb then unlocking it for the ride down. Idk seems to me like moving parts and bindings are not a great combination
BiffbarfWe will have to see. The sth is already the most elastic toe on the market, I'm a big fan even though i prefer pivots because of stack height. Regardless, I'm always stoked for new binding tech
animatorI thought pivots had more elasticity
BiffbarfOnly in the heel

Park.did this raise the stack height in the toe? The regular sth2 16s have done me better than pivots or attacks so pretty bummed to see this. At least discounts will pop up for the non-mnc 16s now.
Greg_KThe STH 16 has always been 18.5mm high in the toe and 24.5mm in the heel, so a 6mm delta. The Warden is higher in the toe(21mm) so it’s flatter overall in comparison.
The Pivot is much flatter at 19mm heel/18mm toe and the Attack GW AFD adjusts from 12-15mm in the toe(about 14mm when adjusted properly on alpine boot) and it’s 17mm in the heel, so about a 3mm difference. Griffons are about 4mm different(22mm heel and 18mm toe).
Some people are very sensitive to the differences in binding delta with too large heel/toe differences throwing off their balance. Good idea to test balance and forward lean settings in their boots on flat ground vs in their bindings in case it’s affected.
onenerdykidNew 21/22 STH 2 is 20.5mm in the toe and this extra 2mm is due to the MNC compatibility, which is honestly the big update to this binding. Whether you feel the new switch or not, the ability to certifiably fit Alpine ISO 5355, GripWalk, and Touring ISO 9523 soles into an STH binding is a bit of a big deal. It's basically a 16-DIN Warden now.
SavageBiffDampening belongs in skis not bindings.

@ASSholebomber22 im a fan of moving afd bc I crank my Dins higher than rec, seems you don’t feel this way, Y? Is it simply just not wanting to replace stuff that breaks? Maybe it’s just me but it seems my bindings with moving afd release with less pain, pull on my groin and knee than the ones w/o at same din
BiffbarfThe sth has always had a rubber gasket thing between the binding and the ski, this looks like you can just switch to a more 'solid' mount. Idk the difference it would make.
Moving afd's work great, they just break easier than the solid afds is all.
