Whistler Trip Tips & Tricks

Hey friends,

The boys and I are planning to go to Whistler from good ole Philly in March and it will be our first time traveling to Whistler. We go out west every year so we are use to traveling with ski equipment. But, wanted to hear if anyone had any tips or suggestions for us or comments on what we are thinking. Also is anyone has any must see bars, places, etc. for us to stop and see.

Currently looking at riding 7 days. Time is looking like middle of March. We believe that the best bet is to fly into Vancouver from Philly and catch a bus to Whistler. We are planning on getting an AirBnB in Whistler so I don't see the need to have a rental car if we aren't going to leave the village.

How's the shuttle service from the Vancouver airport to Whistler. Epic/Whistler seem to advertise/have a partner that they go with for a bus. Also if anyone has done an AirBnb and can suggest any throw them this way too.

Also thoughts on staying in Whistler Creek vs Whistler.

Make sure your accommodations have easy cancelation

Last year I took a trip out in late March, trip was all Gucci until we got back and found out that the whole resort was closing literally out of nowhere, thankfully that was our LDOH. But just goes to show that the bc gov is pretty unpredictable. The number of frowns in the village that day must have been huge.

If you stay in the creek it will be more necessary to catch a bus to the mountain every day.
I think it's pretty easy to get a bus from Van to Whis.
Garfinkels is kind of a legendary bar.
Bring stickers from somewhere local to you to slap everywhere.
Make an edit and post it on NS.

Hey if you’re flying to Vancouver definitely take epic rides up there If you aren’t going to rent a car. I guess for price wise Airbnb might be more worth it . There’s also this small pod hotel in the village that’s very cheap but if you want a decent amount area to stay in get Airbnb unless you find some hotel deals . If you plan on going out then the village is best but you can also access the mountain by creekside but there’s less happening in that area

Gonna stay in Whistler with everyones input. Also will be at any legendary bar so count me and a RBV in.

Think we are going to look into Epic Rides. Price wise AirBnB is so much cheaper even with that "Epic" discount for there hotels.

Check out Poparide when it comes to getting up to Whis from Van, it might take an extra step but I've met some rad people and saved some serious cash getting there from the airport.

21 steps has some seriously bomb food if you want a ball out dinner night. Also spend some time in Van if you haven't planned to already, it's a dope city.

I took a skylynx bus and no complaints there. Just another option in case epic rides doesn't work out for you.

We usually always do 1 nice dinner out so will look into this for an option thanks so much.

Garfs has changed through covid, it's like an underground sports bar now. If you need any pointers message me, lived here for a few years now

Also, swing by the RMU store/bar in the upper village, it's fucking rad!

Agreed I’d recommend crystal or tapleys, rmu is good too

Im not sure how the Airbnb thing is going but as far as I’m concerned housing is a mess this year. I’m not even sure I can find a room for this season under 2k ! Hopefully you get a good deal for lodging

Threads for bus/shuttle info. Me and my sister have a car reserved but are staying in creekside village this week. Should we ditch the car and take the shuttle or hold onto it?

Buses are still on strike here so don't expect to be able to hop on a shuttle to/from the mountain. Fuckin BC Transit needs to pay them drivers

Oh and uhh of course whats the weather/snowpack situation like up there right now? Not planning on touring but forecasts are calling for a lot of wet weather so plan on valley rains and snow up top at higher elevations?

Looking for some insight on travel to Vancouver. Our flight now leaves Vancouver at 7AM. The whistler shuttle we were going to take does not start early enough to get us to the airport in time. Can anyone suggest transit that would leave the village early enough to take us to the airport. I tried looking into Uber but it just directs me to nothing.

Still looking? try epicrides, skylynx, whistle, cab companies here do airport runs but its $$$$$
