Freeride ski recommendations

Getting my first pair of skis here, I can do any marked piste just fine on the mountain, looking for something very playful that I can progress with a ton, but will be able to survive through the occasional knee deep pow. I don’t care how good they are in the park, but I’d prefer something easy to butter and that’s pretty damp with some flex. Any help would be great 🙏

I like the Reckoner 102 as a recommendation. The issue you may run into is the butterability vs dampness of skis. Generally, those two adjectives are contrary to each other because of the construction of the ski.

Reckoner 102s are nice because although you can’t bomb straight down a mountain, they still hold a decent edge, at least from my experience.

You could check out the Kartel/Jeffrey 102. A bit stiffer but they have lots of rocker that helps with butters without comprising the stiffness of the ski.

I agree here, I owned the Rec 102 and while it’s a stupid fun ski, it’s a park ski. They market it as an all mountain ski but I could fold the thing in half at will and therefore do not think it is capable as a daily driver if you like to ski any sort of hard or aggressive. Jeff 102 is a super solid recommendation by Poub and one of the greatest skis in existence.

Literally any twin tip progressive mounted ski between 95-110 underfoot. Not really but if you pick blindly it’s probably fine.

he’s got a point. you’ll learn to ski whatever ski you choose and if you can pick it up quickly, you’ll fall in love with it

Faction prodigy 3.0 are sick. 106 under waist and pretty playful. They don't have the speed limit that the k2 have.

tbh it kinda seems like OP wants an all mountain ski not a freeride ski if he mostly skis piste and occasional powder

Lol sorry I wasn’t super clear. I was saying I could do all the piste with no problem, but I am looking for an off piste ski that’s good in trees, some off piste pow, and general freeride.

Picked these up last year, had a great time on them. Had a shit winter unfortunately so I didn’t get to push them too hard, but damn they’re a fun ski. Performed well on rails and pistes, about all I had the chance to do with em so far.

Uh… probably get banned for this but the sego big horn checks every box on your list.
The sfb would also be very fun and playful and can carve, but it’s not damp at high speed and it’s not a charger, but probably the most fun and floaty. Same category as reckoner but I think it carves better and floats better.
An m free would be a good choice for a more damp playful ski but your gonna lose some butter ability.

b ops is not something you want if your looking to learn butters or progress from intermediate, it’s fun and playful, but it’s a heavy sob, it’s damp , and not what you wanna learn butters on
