Ski waxing

I have Line Blends I haven’t yet used and was wondering if they have a factory wax on their bases and if I should ski them for a while before waxing them myself.

I bought Line SFBs last winter and some guy told me that they have a factory wax and I should ski them a bit before waxing them myself. I was just wondering if it’s the same with the blends.

Also, when I do wax my new skis, both the Blends and the SFBs, should I apply a base wax first and then the regular wax or is the regular wax enough?

I’m guessing the regular wax is enough but what are the benefits of adding different waxes on top of each other?

I wouldn’t worry too much about getting the factory wax off. Just brush them real good. It helps to iron a think layer of wax on then let it cool and re iron then repeat the process until you no longer see little bubbles (base pulling wax in). It’s basically hot boxing them without a hot box. Just don’t get the bases too hot.

Also heard this process doesn’t make a difference for shitty bases. You could also do a hot scrape but that’s more for cleaning bases.

All skis have factory wax but it's usually garbage, aside from the smaller companies that hotbox their skis. It will last a short time. It never hurts to put more wax on though, and yours will undoubtedly be better. Go for it.

What do you mean apply a “base wax” first? What a base wax? Wax is wax.
