Old ski love

Everyone is always talking about their new skis but what about our old faithfuls? The skis that aren’t new and are a bit banged up but we still love them. I thought this could be a thread dedicated to that. The ones we have made experiences with.

I’ll go first - Slant Diplomats in a 181. Got them Feb 2017 when I was interning at the Slant factory. I have charged hard with them and put them away wet. Multiple core shots (should be a lot more - they use same base as ON3P), little bit of fixed delam in tip, grime on topsheet from dirty ski racks, Tons of nicks into bamboo sidewall. They still truck and I love them. Will ski them until they literally break or I want to turn them into a wall ornament.

So let’s see your old faithfuls.

Atomic blogs (2015?) topsheet has basically peeled off. Edges are so worn down they are hard to even sharpen. Fixed some delam and an edge pull out. 3.5 mounts. Still kicking and still a blast to ski. Really hoping atomic remakes these skis or I can find another pair.

Gotta agree with you on that one. I loved the old atomic line up (blogs, old punx, the infamous) really thought the bentchetler 100 was going to be a slightly skinnier Blog but I was disappointed.

I just dropped off my 2009 moment Bibby's to be mounted with CAST (binding freedom)

I've had them forever and regularly ski parking lot concrete. They just won't quit

I also have some 09 EP's I take out a few times a year, and daily my opuses

2011 k2 kung fujas and 2015 line bacons are my resort daily drivers, no one make skis anymore like early 2010s line/k2 don't see either breaking on me anytime soon. Ran a pair of 2013ish line blends into the ground and still got some 2015 k2 shreditor 102s that have seen 3 or 4 years of rails mounted up for spring park days.

For me it was the first “fat” ski I had been on at 110 underfoot. Which was super wide for the East coast at the time. The rocker camber rocker was the perfect mix where it held an edge pretty much on anything. The flex was soft but not too soft. And it was pretty light. I guess it was really the first “do it all” ski for me and it was super fun. Even rode a ton of park on it.

My biggest wish is for Atomic to make a pair of touring skis anywhere NEAR as good as those 109 FRs again.

Such a fun ski!!! I have a thrashed pair full of delams and edge cracks...and also a fresh brand new pair that I'm afraid to mount & thrash because I'll never find another set in the wild.

Objectively, it's not as good as what I ski now. It was also my first fat ski with rocker, and I got my first face shot's (on ski's) on them. So probably looking back with rose colored glasses. But I think they were a good ski for the time, and super fun. Much more inspired than the shit Atomic puts out now.

It would be pretty hilarious to do a poll of how many folks first face shots were on the Blog. I have at least three other friends in the same boat. It was such an eye opening ski for so many of us.

And yeah, in retrospect, it probably wouldn't be a great ski for me now, but as a touring ski I think it could be killer. Just make a BC 110 in a 186 and we'd all buy it.

2012 Blogs were my primary touring skis till last year. At this point they are straight up noodles but still super fun for goofing around and pre/post-season rock bashing. They've held up remarkably well for the abuse I've dished out over the years

Haven't ridden these yet but we'll see if they're as fun as I remember 10+ years ago. Think they're the '05. Got a deal so figured why not. K2 Public Enemy.

I still use my 2013 Surface One Lifes as a daily driver/rock ski, They have probably upwards of 10 major core shots per ski, I have given them PTEX tattoos, brakes have been repaired multiple times, they have a nimbus independent sticker with really tiny letters that somehow hasn't peeled off yet, and they continue to excel in skiing every possible type of snow at the very limits of control.

Still riding my 2011 4frnt CRJs as my primary not park ski with Pivots and MFD plates for touring. Skiied everything from park to big mountain to bc hut trips with em.



Gonna be real nice when I upgrade to Cast with faction 4's tho.
