SofaKingSickthat's a good ski for a daily driver in the west, though the center mount isn't haha. you'll be fine though, get some pow skis if you've got spare cash but if not don't stress over it, see how you feel once you've ridden there
BradFiAusNzCoCaIf I were you, I’d keep my eyes out for cheap wide skis. I nabbed some K2 sidestash (108 underfoot) my first year in Tahoe for $99 then sat on them until I could afford bindings.
junior1derfulI was in the same position you were in 3 years ago. I'm really glad that I got wider pow specific skis because it makes skiing deep snow much more enjoyable. I got 116's (skis 115mm + underfoot aren't necessary imo) but 108's would be perfect for an everyday ski. I would try to go to a ski swap if possible (that's how i got really nice pow skis for cheap) but because of covid they might not be happening. I think checking local ski gear facebook pages is your best bet at getting an affordable pow / wide ski setup.
IMO Your current skis will suffice, but if you really want to enjoy powder wide skis (105/8mm +) are ideal.
Where are you gonna be riding this winter?
jeyk.47Yup just got some on3p jeffrey 108 for cheap 🤝
ericformanAs an east coaster that also moved west skiing pow is incredibly easy with the right set up vs skiing park / bumps / complete dog shit on the east. If you are finding it challenging (you prolly will with the center mount) get something mounted a bit back (like -4 is nice for a park guy), that’s wider, and even though you didn’t say anything about your height or current ski length I’m gonna guess longer. Suddenly it’ll be a piece of cake.
also not all pow is created equal. If it’s like raining or warm it’s way more difficult. Get that north facing cold smoke and profit.
jeyk.47I'm 6 feet, weight around 150lbs and I ski the 184 cm reckoner 102

twinkle_toesThe Reckoner 102 has a wider profile at the tip and tail (134-102-127) so you should be fine as long as you're not skiing in waist deep pow.... guess it depends where you'll be riding
I rode the K2 Remedy 102 (131/102/125) in BC backcountry all season long. Which is almost identical to the Reckoner 102.
Had no issues riding on pow days. It also handled super well on hard pack and crust. Great all mountain ski, perfect daily driver in my opinion. Took it into the park, super stable on landings. Surfy and playful in the backcountry. Holds an edge well and charges hard when you need it to. Also personal preference... but I like mine center mounted. You'll be fine

BraybladeOP where are you gonna be skiing?
skiP.E.I.You're going to be fine. It's easier to find cheap used skis out there too, so if you want some pow skis while you're there, just keep an eye out for them.
animatorRemedy was based on the Shreditor 102 platform and was way heavier and damper than the new Reckoner series. Shapes are close but the construction was very different.
twinkle_toesOh shit I had no idea, that’s what K2 told me in an email. Good to know!
Have you ridden the Reckoner 102s? Would you reccommend them for a backcountry setup ?
