What is your favorite powder touring ski?

I've toured on the Woodsman 108 and Billy Goat 116 Tour extensively. Heavier than other brands touring skis, but worth it for the ride down. Tour layup is highly desirable over stock layup.

I have probably the heaviest set up you can have. Worth it on the descent

Armada whitewalker with a kingpin 13! Hands down the best setup I’ve ever owned! If I had to ski one setup for
the rest of my life it would be this one! You can rip any and everywhere with them no matter the conditions or the snow. I’ve skied a TON of different setups over the years and this one takes the cake!

Yeah that sounds pretty nice. How much elevation do you tour on them on a day? Do you think a binding like the atk fr14 will also make it on the whitewalkers. And how would you compare climbing with the vision108? My favourites so far are the bc120, whitewalker and vison 108. I like the vision 108 cuz they are prob easier to climb and are a little more versatile. I own a lightweigt backland 85 for long tours and shitty conditions.

Depends on the day and what we’re doing but sometimes it’ll be 3000+ ft of elevation during a day and some days it’s just side country booters. As far as the fr14 binding goes, yeah you could put that on the ski but is it gonna perform the best. Not at all. It’s a 116 ski and it’s meant to be charged hard. Putting a full pin binding on a ski like that you definitely loose power and performance. I would say it’s similar to the vision 108 but at the same time it’s not. Like the vision 118 and the WW are super comparable. On the 108 you’d be fine with running a full pin setup whereas the 118 and WW you’re gonna compromise your performance. The skis like the bc120, vision 118 and WW are definitely in my option meant for going down more then up. Hence why I ski them. I don’t care about my uphill weight or other stuff like that I just want the best possible ride down so I’ll choose alittle more weight for better performance downhill then lighter weight on the uphill and meh performance downhill. Hopefully this helps.

How do you say? I would say the vision is similar in construction and feel on snow to the WW and UL 116 maybe im on crack but that’s what I’ve felt over the years of skiing them.

Even the JJ UL and Whitewalker ski completely different so idk what you’re on but I’d love me some 😂😂 JJ UL is super soft and terrible in anything except deep pow, Whitewalker is slightly heavier, way stiffer, and way damper and actually skis prettt decent in chop and crud. Vision 108 is soft like JJ UL but more stable at speed and on hard snow. 3 pretty different skis

It floats well. It’s a good 50/50 ski if you have a quiver, I wouldn’t want it to be my only ski though. More stable at speed than it’s weight would suggest but not by any means a charger. Great on the uphill, good in pow, ok in resort for day-to-day stuff.

Haha ok this is true! I was writing this shit this morning while half awake with my daughter lol 😂 now that I reread what I wrote I was definitely on something but idk what (maybe sleep deprivation) yeah the UL and WW are completely different skis hence why I only ski the WW. Yeah the vision at speed on the hard pack skis actually really Damn well!

Agreed, but I would argue that this makes it one of the best answers to the question of "best pow touring ski". Most of my best days last season were skiing them in 1'+ of fresh last year. If you can have another set of skis as a daily driver, the JJ ULs are really really sick when the conditions suit them (which is often in Utah).
