I am thinking about buying the moment deathwish 112 but am a little bit hesitant because of the triple camber profile that moment is doing. I think it is a really cool idea but I don’t know how much that will really affect my skiing and if it does if I’ll like the way it affects my skiing. If you have skied the deathwish let me know your thoughts on it.
They’re so sick OP. triple camber gives them insane edge grip for a ski of their width and they still float and play and butter and honestly imo one of the best shapes from the last 25 years of skiing
I'm on my second set of the the previous version in 190cm. The current version is supposed to be a little stiffer, heavier, and damper than the ones I have. I live in Colorado and they are my go-to skis. Probably have 150 days on them at least. They are super sick for a 112mm ski in techy stuff, trees, steeps, and even bumps. Super maneuverable. They are light and nimble enough that you can always get them to do what you want. Perfect for a place like Abasin. You can charge on them, but they are not true chargers - too light, not super damp. They get knocked around in chop. As for edge hold, they aren't the best, and I don't think triple camber does anything normal camber does not do as well or better. The fun they provide outweighs those drawbacks for me and the kind of skiing I do though, by a lot. I tend to reach for them over the Woodsman 108 and older Kartel 106's I have. That should tell you a lot. I never find myself wishing I was on a wider pow ski either. I would 100% always recommend Deathwish's.
I’ve been on the Deathwish as my daily since 2014. I work at Moment but I’ll check my bias at the door because the Deathwish is the reason I ended up here and I skied them for years before I did.
For me, the Deathwish is the most capable mid-fat I’ve been on in just how well it does no matter what conditions do. I picked up a pair during the 14/15 season and very quickly the rest of my quiver saw little use.
I agree with Skierman in that you can charge on them (and charge hard) but they aren’t a charger, still quite playful and lively. The new version (with the ash core) definitely got a higher speed limit and a lot more composure and suspension in chop and when things are nasty and you’re skiing shit snow like it’s soft. As a big guy that tends to charge I was grateful for the change.
I disagree on the edge hold though, that’s what keeps me coming back and why I’m hard pressed to ride anything else. For the width, they really grip when it’s firm. Sure, I can get more grip on a narrower directional ski but I can’t ski something like that how I can ski the Deathwish and how I want to ski everyday. They’re planted when you want them to be, comfortable when things are sketchy but easy to throw around and playful.
In terms of the Triple Camber - don’t overthink it, not something you notice or that’ll change how you ski - it just works.
Still what I take out damn near everyday and the only ski I take when I travel. Would definitely recommend.

Hey hear me out? I keep stepping on the rails of my DW tour 190. I love the performance of the twin tip but it sucks on icy skin tracks. Any serious reason I shouldn’t cut down the tail and shorten the ski.

that sounds like an awful idea and if you have to ask how to do it, you shouldn't do it (no offense, i wouldn't know either)
just get used to them and stop stepping on them? seems like the obvious solution
