Are wear leatger mitts worth it?

Been searching for mitts that hold up for at least one season, wells Lamont are the best that I've had so far, been looking at wear leathers and I feel like they're durable but don't want to spend 65 bucks for them to rip open on me. Let me know what you guys think 🙏

i was pretty happy with Wells-Lamont last year. Actually wore them more than my Hestra's that cost 3 times as much. Do the Leathers have seperate fingers in their mitts?

And INB4 everyone who pretends that Kinco's are warm when your not patrolling, or banging chairs. They aren't.

I honestly wouldn’t spend a bunch on mitts unless you plan on going in some touring backcountry trips or you live im the freezing east coast. I keep losing mine probably bought 4-5 pairs this year and one of them was Hextra and obviously lost them. Personal preference but I prefer just some gore Tex mitts. Which are usually less espensive but keep you safe anyways and forme so far I’ve felt warmer with them

Yeah I made the switch from Hestra to WL last season and they’re fire. Cheaper (I get discounts regardless but still), just as if not more durable/waterproof and super steezy. I ski the east coast and they’re more than warm enough, I was at killington on a 15 degree day (that’s without wind chill) and my hands were toasty.

Oh gotcha. Yeah I have a buddy who was getting stuff from leathers for a bit and they seemed of decent quality, but I think WL still holds the title currently. POW gloves are super ill and supposed to be wicked good but they’re as expensive as hestra and I’ve heard good things about oyuki as well but have yet to try those….

i’m goin on like 2.5 seasons on the most basic wells lamont mitt with probably 100 days on em, couple 10-15 rope n cable tow days

I have random buckskin mitts I got at the hardware store for 40 bucks, they are many seasons old and I never get cold hands. Key for waterproofing is mink oil

My hill is very small but has a good park, with a ropetow. So out of the 80 days a year they're open I'm probably on the rope atleast 100 times a day.

Glove recommendation : I ski 6-7 days a week from December to April and wear black diamond spark mitts. They have been perfect for my needs. I ski in southern BC so it's always pretty mild (Average -5°C) and they are plenty warm, super durable, very waterproof and look dope.They are a little pricey at $100 but they are solid mitts. I highly recommend them.

I think the consensus is that you should stick with WL. I’m going on my third season with a $50 pair and zero holes or tears. I don’t use a rope toe though so I would try and treat the palms with something

if you ski a rope tow you definitely should stick with WL or Kincos or just cheap work mitts. anything nicer is gonna get ruined fast

had a pair of the $5 dakota leather mitts from walmart for more seasons than I would like to admit. I went through 2 pairs of them, only because the sharpie marks were too obcene. Pretty sure I still have a usable pair of them back home.

you won't catch me buying anything fancy in terms of leather mitts anymore. On cold days I could fit a hand warmer on my palm, and the top of my hand because the liners were removable.

What r u smoking? Kincos are very warm. I fingers used to regularly go numb within a few hours and I went through all sorts of gloves before dropping bank on goose down mittens. Then I discovered kinco gloves. They keep me warm down to about 0F. Only time they're cold is if I put them on damp.

I feel like it's either wells Lamont or kinco gang. The only wells Lamont gloves I had were work gloves that I primarily used for my smoker. They are already coming apart at the stitching after I used them for one day with various hand tools and an auger.

But op don't spend that much. Get a pair of kinco or wells Lamont. Make sure to waterproof them.

Wells Lamont is giving money to skiers and film projects. I back that big time. 100+ years of product quality is also pretty dope. Just make sure you are buying em from the wells Lamont snow site and not at Walmart or something lol.

Yeah, oil or wax. I use hestra wax. Have seen people use mink oil and other leather care peoducts
