SoCAL Ski hills - park/trampoline

Hi NS,

I just moved to socal for school and am looking to find a new group to shred the park with. I am located in Loma Linda and would like to buy a seasons pass. How are the parks at snow valley/big bear?

I am also looking for a place that is close with a super tramp/the best trampoline I can get ahold of...

Big bear park can be pretty fun. I’ll be up there a lot of weekends this season / some days midweek. If you get an ikon pass mammoth mountain is also included which is about 6ish hours from you?

Oh also if you get an ikon or bear pass then you also get snow summit included which is a 3minute drive from bear. (Same owners)

the park is fun at summit aswell

I’m in Santa Barbara so I’m prob gonna be at bear, mammoth, and squaw quite a bit this season. All of the above are pretty damn fun, though I get kinda burnt out on bear sometimes.

What do you mean by "burnt out," is the park boring? or are you skiing piste/off-piste?

I haven't lived in Southern California in over a decade but Mt High is another mountain to look at. Ikon pass is far superior for mountain access but Mt High is easier to get to and does night skiing.

it kind of depends what they have setup at the time, bears park staff seems to be kind of hit or miss.

They might have the park stacked with a bunch of fun features. Or they might put in a bunch of whacky stuff and not have anything “normal to hit”.

You’ll also find that they seemingly just don’t put a feature in a space that would be perfect for one, or they’ll randomly remove a feature for no reason.

It might sound like I’m bashing it but what I mean is that it can be a toss up sometimes, the park staff does a good job at maintaining jumps and features tho.

bear and summit are smallish mountains but getting to ride both of their parks makes it definitely worth it.

The all mountain terrain is bad though, and pow days are rare.

so mammoth or squaw will have to be your getaway for that.

(Ikon pass gets squaw for 5 days)

Hey dude, welcome to Socal! I tried to get a thread started on this, there's a couple of us here looking to ski a bunch this winter:

I would recommend the Icon pass for sure, I think you can get a college discount. That will get you to Snow Summit, Big Bear and Mammoth.

What he said. Apart from the park, there’s not any challenging terrain. I like to at least sprinkle some trees in throughout the day so not having any of that kinda stuff gets old. And there’s plenty of times where I’ve found myself just lapping the park for the same 2 features because the rest of the stuff isn’t really skier-oriented
