BrightFrog“griffons breaking” will be the biggest lib conspiracy of this decade. It’s perpetuated by a bunch of hippies who want you to buy look and On3p, ski Snowbasin, go to a boot fitter and all other kinds of stupid shit.

Shred12343I need a binding for a new ski. The ski I’m getting is either Tom wallisch pro or volkl bash 86 if that helps. I weigh around 95 pounds and am debating between attack tyrolla 13s marker griffon and look 12. I really like the sound of the griffons because there light. But I read that they break a lot. Any opinions?
Shred12343How are the attacks better?
mystery3What weights are you looking at? Afaik attacks are lighter than griffons which are lighter than sth which are lighter than pivots. The attacks were even lighter pre-gripwalk.

bbw.enthusiastThey arent, anything that isnt pivs or sth is plastic dogshit
Shred12343Is it bad that pivots are really heavy tho?
mystery3Griffons don't catastrophically fail, they just develop slop in the toe and are more expensive than the superior Attack series from Tyrolia. It's fax
BradFiAusNzCoCaThis is true. I’ve had the toes turn to complete dogshit.
They’re just not as sturdy, op, but you’re 95 lbs so it won’t be an issue. My vote goes to attack 11 for you

mystery3The Attack 11 has too much ramp angle it's more geared towards beginners. They are pretty light though and reasonably priced.

SofaKingSickat 95 lbs we ain't too worried, but yeah the 11s are made a little differently (for noobs/kids), and since the 13s are such a great price already, i'd say go for the 13s. still really light, low stack height, great binding, and honestly the 11s can't be too much cheaper given the prices you can get 13s for
plus OP will presumably grow
logmueGriffons don't break. They're all I've ridden for 7 years
BradFiAusNzCoCaAh ok. No experience with attack 11. Was just making an assumption based off 13
Shred12343So griffons and attack 13 but no pivots are good?

BradFiAusNzCoCaPivots are good. They’re expensive though. I think that’s why people didn’t suggest them.
SofaKingSickpivots are the gold standard, most people agree. super well-liked design that has earned its excellent reputation over years and years and the metal ones especially are really durable and last forever. likely no one mentioned them for you since they are expensive and a bit heavy, so not ideal for a beginner/small person (but would work of course)
attack 13s are our go-to suggestion for someone who is put off by the price or weight of pivots because attacks are shockingly cheap for their performance and they are light and have a low stack height (distance between your foot and the ski)
re: griffons, i don't like markers and many agree, but many disagree. they're fine, and you're light so you don't need to stress over this too much. but i doubt you'll find griffons for cheaper than attacks anyway

SessionRealistically most people that recommend pivots are doing it for drip as very few are skiing at a level that any differences in binding would really matter or be noticeable.
You absolutely cannot beat the value of the attack 13. I used to be a diehard STH guy but now all I own are attacks. Bonus they come in lots of sweet colors.
Shred12343Ok so I’m probably going to go with attacks just as a can’t go wrong, maybe pivots if I can find the 12s for a deal. Should I go for the 11 or is the plastic bad? And 13 is the way to go.
BradFiAusNzCoCaCheapest I have found pivot 12s for is $199.99 at the moment
Shred12343What about squires because those are insanely light and cheap and have some nice colors too?
