Faction Prodigy 2.0 Mounting Point

Hello

In the last few seasons, I mostly mounted my bindings true center and that was also my plan for this year with the 177 Faction Prodigy 2.0.



So recently, I watched the Faction Mounting video, where they show 3 different Mounting Positions.
(To make it easier to understand, I drew all the positions on the ski )



The recommended Freestyle mounting point is the "Newschool" Position, which is way back from true center. The thing is, they mentioned, if the Binding is mounted further towards true center as the "Newschool" Position, the performance won't be that good.

So I am a bit concerned where to put the binding. cause -5.5cm from true center is a lot.

What do you guys think? Thx for ur help

I always true center that’s my preference. It’s up to and what you like most, just need to figure that out.

Check the roofbox review. I think @twig (the @ isn't working) said he had talked to the team members and they all mounted around -2 or -2.5. I'd definitely double check, but that could be a good compromise.

I saw one of those pro set ups videos and I can't remember who it was but they said they mounted at 2 back and it was perfect.

I have my prodigys at -2.5. It’s not a symmetrical ski and therefore the sidecut is obviously not symmetrical either so you’ll be fighting it when you’re trying to hold an edge during a turn. The new mount points are horseshit, faction does them to try to to appeal to a wider range of skiers who are too stupid to see that the Prodigy line is comprised of freestyle skis. I’ve skied them at -6 and they’re absolute dogshit and I’ve skied them at center and they’re ok. I like them at -2.5 the best but if you’re only skiing park and you ski switch a lot then have it

I mounted mine 2cm back from true center and they work great for park/all mountain

I also just bought a pair of Prodigy 3.0s, and thought the mounting advice in the 'Faction YouTube Video' was weird. The recommended for these skis is so far back!

I'm probably going to go 2.0 or 2.5 cm back from true center. Keep in mind that Alex Hall's pro ski is a Faction Prodigy 2.0, with a special white top sheet... so I'm pretty sure this series will ride great close to true center.

I wish they marked the 'Candide Preferred' mounting point on these skis, which I think is ~2 cm back from TC on most models

I made the mistake of getting my 3.0s mounted at the newschool position, is it worth remounting them if I want to learn spins and rails or would I be fine trying to learn with how they are mounted now?

-1.5 cm is the best, if you mounted them anywhere else feel free to send them to me, i’ll treat them right

Hey I just bought these skis and was wondering about The mount point. I was thinking of mounting -2 I need to measure it myself and I'm no quite sure how to do it. Do you measure true center by just dividing The ski length by 2 and 2cm Back from that point and that's it?

Yep, measure the ski length. Divide by two to get center, then move two centimeters back from that point and draw the line (I usually put a piece of masking tape on the ski and draw on that). Repeat for the other ski. Check and check again. Done.

Bump

Took the prodigy 2.0 out today for the first time. Had them mounted at the “newschool” mount which is -5.5cm from center.

Honestly, I really didn’t like them mounted there. Just didn’t feel as confident. My favorite type of skiing now is bumps/steeps/all mtn freeride type stuff (Montana). Used to ride the CT 2.0 at -2 from center and that was my favorite ski of all time.



Anyways, I think I’m gonna move the mount to -3 from center. Might make them more maneuverable on moguls, will feel less weird on rails, doesn’t get too far ahead of the center of the sidecut.

I mean I feel like I’m a pretty damn good downhill skier and was just feeling punished for being even 1% in the backseat today.
