It will make installing the "Cast" system much easier actually, because all you will have to do is drill the brake clip holes, and all the other holes will already be drilled, so you can easily line up the template.

for reference, the two brake holder screws are located 39mm and 55mm from the center of the two foremost screws in the heel.

Also, as you remove the toe and screw in the new screws+sleeves, remember to
a) use the same threads that are already in the ski, find them by screwing backwards/"unscrewing" the screw until the screw pops up and falls into the groove
b) first fit all of the front four screws (very) loosely on the ski, and then mount/emplace the full toe piece on the ski as you tighten the four screws+sleeves. The toe will then force the screws+sleeves to tightened into their correct position/orientation.

I have done this. Just be extra careful when screwing the toe back in to line up the threads properly so they don't strip, if the holes are super beat you could use epoxy for retention but most likely if it's just the second use regular waterproof glue should be fine.

One piece of advice I would give is to NOT remove your heel piece, pivot heel pieces are a pain in the ass to screw in due to the way the brakes get in the way and torque on the binding when you move them. You don't really need the pattern for the brake lock holes, I'd just clamp the brake lock in what seems like the correct spot and test if it works, then mark the holes that way

When I did it I used the template but I wouldn't do it again for the reasons I mentioned if my heel was already mounted. Even tho I used the template they still unpop occasionally, so I figure I could do at least as good of a job without it. Just make sure you're centered on the ski, give maybe a mm of room between the heel piece and the brake lock, clamp it down, and test it. Adjust until it works well and mark where the holes are. That's what I would do rather than have to remount my heel

You do not need to remove the heels to mount the brake lock / high rise bars, nor do you have to guesstimate where the holes should be - just measure 39mm and 55mm on the center line of the ski from the center of the two front screws and drill the holes where they are supposed to be ;) (just measure on the template and copy the lengths you found there)

Sure, mark where the 39/55mm spots are, put the brake holder in that spot before drilling and see if it makes sense. If the brakes lock when you hold the brake holder in place there then great.

This should not devolve to guestimation however - Cast have specified where they want us to mount the damned thing after all ;)

Yup, Im pretty sure CAST actually recommends mounting and skiing the bindings first so you are sure theyre mounted right before going full setup

UncleDustyThis is probably a really dumb question, but if I got pivot 15s and mounted them, would I be able to at a future point install the CAST system? So like ski them for most of the season and then get the CAST at a later point. Or does it all need to be mounted together at the same time?

A later point should still be relatively close to when you mount the skis because they go so fast nowadays. You won’t be able to get your hands on them past February or March unless you put an order in for the 4th drop which usually show up April/May. Which is fine if you don’t want to use it this season I guess but yeah just something to keep in mind.
