DeadBI think he's referring to level 4 ski instructor. I'm not sure if its strictly a Canadian grading but CSIA Level 4 is the highest.
First the only people who are level 4 is like dudes in their 80's who gatekeep and invented the grading system.
Secondly the amount of money you'll have to spend on fee's; travel being 1 of the lesser costs compared to just getting into the program. In total (I could be very off) might be like 20-30 grand to go all the way from level 1 to 4. By the time you get a level 4 most people are already in their 50's, I think I've heard of some guys in their 30's with it but, they might as well be pro skiers at that point. All this without mentioning how biased they are and political about it..
All in all it's 100 percent a waste of time energy and money.
This is just my 2 cents about ski instructing but the entire thing needs a massive reform, it's very outdated.
If you wear anything park related or even are mostly a freestyle or freeride skier. You will not be able to achieve a level 4. It's taught by racer jocks, owned by racer jocks and if you don't look or ski like a racer jock, you're fucked.
If you want a level 4 start snowboarding.
CSIA is a joke FIS is a joke USASA is a joke, and whatever other phony ass ski association that has to do with the sport itself, you're going to spend more money trying to be a high level instructor then you'll make if it's only seasonal.
If you wanna do something substantial, and not fake asf. Get into avy stuff. Patrol stuff. paralympics stuff. So many good things that arent run by rich fuckheads who take trips to vail resorts every other weekend.
TL:DR:
You will lose money.
Go finance a fucking car and proceed to work part-time.
