Anyone work in a hospital? How bad is it?

Going on 18 months of covid is getting old really quick. Fucking have winter volumes in the summer right now- covid on top of everything else. Shortage of staff in all areas so workload is above average and just going balls to the wall the entire shift, every shift. I'm probably the most laid back person in my department and I'll agree burnout is real. I'm burned out and I usually live for this shit. I love chaos but this is just incessantly irritating.

Look at this graph. Feel like game of thrones cuz winter is coming and gonna be wild. Look at last year to now. Winter is fucked if we don't change fast.










So how is your hospital doing?






To any of you fuckers who want to turn this into a political thread, don't. It's not. I work with facts. Evidence based. Keep your misinformation out of here. I don't care if you're rich or poor or Republican or Democrat or Independent or your race. Nothing. Just trying to do my job and pissed that selfish attitudes of people are making it unnecessarily overwhelmingly difficult.Then those people who are essentially prolonging this pandemic are the ones being admitted and continuing this chaos. Just grow up and be glad EMTALA is a law. My sympathy meter is empty.

How big is your hospital? That's nothing if you're a large hospital. And 15 each? Or 15 combined? How much of each? From what unit? Might not even matter.

Hospitals made their policies in line with their employee standards as well as acceptable tolerance for people leaving. Additionally requiring the vaccine also ensures better employee attendance so even if somewhere loses a small percent of staff, overall their attendance will still be better than last year's quarantine mess. Obviously depending on your region, you may have more or less antivaccine sentiment. Not all hospitals are making it a condition of employment.

I with the guy above too...good riddance. If people are under the illusion that mrna vaccines are not effective or more dangerous than covid for any age group, then they are fucking retarded. They'll win the Herman Cain Award eventually.

Wow nice NS. Classic don't keep all my typed text. Well anyway federal medicaid vaccine mandates to come next month so without a mandate you won't get the same reimbursement.

Depending on the field you are in, doesn't OSHA require certain vaccinations along with the CDC reccomendations too for health care providers? At least in the world of EMS, you're already required to get vaccinated due to exposure to things like TB so I don't understand people quitting their jobs for a requirement that has already been in place long before COVID. Its like qutting your job for having to wear a uniform that's already required and you've already been working there for a few years while wearing the said uniform.

Pretty much every hospital requires the basic set of vaccines just like a college would, including hep B since it's a blood borne pathogen. Same for influenza but also has exceptions just like the covid vaccine does. Expect covid to be added to that list permanently. You're caring for patients. It is your DUTY to not expose them to unnecessary potential harms. Anyone arguing that can get fucked.

People had legitimate justifications last winter when it was still an EUA and relatively new. Now that we have a plethora of data thanks to all of us who got vaccinated asap, there's no excuse. It's fda approved. Safe and effective. 100% should get it while pregnant too; I have some real specific fucked up stories of pregnant women or their fetuses being lost due to covid that I wish I could share to get that point across. It's real.

It's absolutely perplexing and infuriating to see healthcare "professionals" willingly peddle misinformation about vaccines and cause a fus. Have people forgotten how revolutionary vaccines have been for world health over the past century?! So asinine.

It's a bit surreal. I'm taking my EMT basic right now and it's just baffling sometimes seeing instructors kinda bitching about it, but we're all tested each week. There reliable instructors and are all very great at their jobs but maaaaaaaaan, 30 years of EMS/Fire/Trauma RN experience and a shot is a pain in the ass for you? C'mon dog.
