5-6 years ago when I saw advanture, the durtschi and mcnutt films I could not relate, what I could relate to is that’s what I wanted to do, that’s the level and type of skiing I wanted, I had stopped skiing for a while, the local mountains became mundane and too well known for me, those videos re ignited the sport for me, had me literally going to the mountain to “practice” instead of just ripping the same lines, same 1s and 3s on groomers and tiny flips etc on jumps, it was the “powder”, seeing people nail the big jumps and style and flow of butters, especially when the dudes like hey mcnutt can you spread some lando lakes on that pillow for me, that was the first butter I saw and I was f I got hooked, they propelled me from fearing the big jumps to now realizing the big jumps are the easy ones, they just flow and have low pop, I feel great about my skiing now and it’s cause of those and well I guess throwing butters all day everyday for a full year
Taillefers go pro videos and big sends really pushed me to send it in unorthodox areas
Same vids still get me thru the summers and looking into traveling to Europe and SA for summer skiing, be forever thankful for what those vids re instilled in me
BigPurpleSkiSuitFor me it always comes back to what people can relate to. Realistically, Heli skiing, our even backcountry jump sesh is not something everyone learning to ski can relate to. The segments that have stuck with me have always included inbounds footage. It's the reason Candide's One of those days blew up, as well as Days of My Youth's resort segment. Also Sidehits Euphoria. People like to see pros ripping in a zone they can access.
