What is the first ski video you got hooked on?

It was “Mind the Gap” for me. I remember watching the trailer on YouTube in high school and thinking “I NEED that movie”. Then I became an Andreas Håtveit fanboy for a bit.

Watching a dude ski the stairs at the London metro and Andreas’ brother go off jumps on a ski chair - these things were like revelations to me. And don’t get me started on the follow cams. I couldn’t get enough.

What video got everyone else hooked?

Traveling circus 9.3 "TC/BC". First park edit i ever watched im pretty certain, the segment at sunshine had me so damn insp'd up as a 12 year old. lol can still catch me watching it regularly

For me the first videos to get me hooked were the Line TC videos. They showed me how much fun skiing could be and all the places it could take you.

The movie that has stuck with me and taught me the most was "For Lack of Better". This movie not only got me exited about trying big futures but it's just fun to watch the pros hit big and sometimes just creative urban spots. At one point in the film Cam Riley goes head to head with an insane kink rail that takes him over 120 attempts over a couple days get the whole thing and it does a really good job at showing how brutal and fatiguing skiing can be. Watching this movie taught me how big perseverance is this sport and the importance of the mental side of park riding. Highly recommend this film if you haven't seen it.

I Feel Ghood. Literally searched "sick ski edit" into youtube when I was 10 years old and scrolled forever watching all the vids that came up but that one hit me like a bus. Rated it 5 stars and watched on repeat with my like 5 year old brother hahaha

Rage Productions: Such is life (2005?)

That movie is one of the most underrated ski flicks of all time IMO. I feel like no one really watched it. Soundtrack is just back to back slappers. I got really high one night about 6 months ago, looked up the soundtrack and listened to every song in sequence (I don’t have a copy of the movie anymore) and I almost cried. It’s crazy how much of an impact that had on me. It’s like I was 10 years old again.

Blaine Gallivan line of the year 2016, I never saw anyone hit a big cliff like Corbets because I was always like skiing is retarded why should you even try hitting jumps, but then I saw that and was like damn I guess skiing really IS cool

Every day is a Saturday, Turbo and Claim were fundamental for my switch from rollerblading. I’d seen skaters ski before but i’d never seen skiing like that.

After Eye Trip (along with other films from ‘09), there was no going back, skiing was everything from then on.

It was "Blizzard of ahhhs" for my old ass. A friend of mine rented it from the video store(VHS) and we watched it like a dozen times in a weekend. After that my sister started taking me to the Warren Miller premiers when they would roll through town. Lots of great memories.

Line TC first few seasons is probably why I got hooked on freeskiing.

Early Jiberish park edits were so sick.

JOSS Team America 2009 Wallisch and Dumont. I mean holy shit. Literally watched that every day after school for like a year.

I remember there was this little sandwich shop at Schweitzer Mountain back in the day called Aplenglow. They always used to play ski movies and my brother and I would chill there after skiing and watch Propaganda on repeat. To this day I still get so stoked watching it:

I was at a ski shop with my parents and they had a TV with a VHS player mounted in the corner playing Teddy Bear Crisis I think cuz I remember the big teddy bear so that was my first exposure to freeskiing. Blew my little kid mind, like had no idea that you could do that on skis, I thought it was just struggling down moguls and hitting sidebooters with your dad.

Really got hooked upon moving to Utah when I was 12. Had zero friends, was the new kid in a new school in a new state so I just kept to myself and skied whenever my family went. Stumbled across trailers for 4bi9 (Look It Up and Slamina were on repeat), ClownSchool edits, Matchstick stuff, Poor Boys stuff, and went deep into the rabbit hole of ski movies. Then stumbled upon this place and the floodgates were open cuz yeah at that time, NS was just about to be on the cusp of the "Golden Years" and there were so many great groups making edits.

I don't remember which one was specifically first but in the same sitting I watched Eat the Guts and Human Being series. I was doing a search for freestyle skiing forums and of course found this site and those videos. I must have sat on the couch for hours I had no idea this kind of skiing existed

for me it wasn't a specific video, it was more like joining social media at the age of ~12 and suddenly having an endless stream of skiing bangers at my fingertips that got me so hyped to go ski
