asparagusStyle has more longevity than trick selection but they both compliment each other. Sure a dub 12 mute was the shit back in the day but nowadays watching basic but stylish tricks from the same era has more appeal.
If the trick is very hard then it needs less style to impress
if the trick is easy then it needs lots of style to impress
But a hard or interesting trick (like a unique axis or non-basic rail trick) that is done stylishly takes the cake on almost every occasion
