Eye doctor. Specifically mine cute my cornea open and shined extremely bright lights in it then cut a 4x4mm square out of it then pour chlorine drops in it to kill a infection then prescribed that alone with many other expensive eye drops that hurt like shit and killed all the tissue in the center of my cornea

He and she were both very nice and as gentle as possible and ultimately helped get ride of a very rare infection I got last spring but. I just wanna know what’d I’d have to do schooling wise and other stuff to do this/reasearch stuff like that for a living to prevent people from going through what I went through

Well an ophthalmologist actually requires a degree in medicine first. Different than an optometrist. Also highly competitive so good luck. Med school is the first step.

the sentiment there is that if you're unable to pass a basic high school math course the odds of you entering and succeeding in a specialized medical field are basically zero. he didn't mean that a doctor would need to know how to solve 3x + 4 = 16

I feel like any doctor I'd want to see should have an understanding of biomechanics and statistics. Also, how light is manipulated by corrective lenses and the lens of the eye is literally all math that is beyond college algebra.

Also literally anything to do with fluid flow like air intake, blood circulation, medication, or anything that involves rates of change etc involves calculus

Depends if op is stupid or lazy. If he's lazy there is hope. I know plenty of people who were average C students in HS who excelled in college by actually trying.

Woflowz I’m not trying to be a dick here but considering how much you complain about even an algebra 1 class I’m not sure med school is gonna be your thing, which is totally fine sinse I don’t think 99% of normal ass people could go through it. However if your actually serious start doing research and talk to your guidance counselor

use those same strategies to get into med school. Kids in my class barely passed school and are now MDs . If you barely pass all the right tests they totally will let you be a doctor

I literally just came here to say this lol. So aggravating right haha. I know quite a few garbage students in HS who eventually went on to be doctors, pharmacists, lawyers, engineers, executives, etc. It is surprising how much of academia is effort and study habits and how little is actually baseline intelligence. If you really want something op, go for it. The passion will drive you through those parts of school that make you want to quit or change majors. If ur smoking weed or drinking now, stop and wait until you're older; that fucks up a developing mind.

As long as you have good enough grades to get into a university, which is C's for a lot, then you'll be fine. Once you get there, go balls to the walls, busting ass all day and night to get good grades and your degree.

There’s a girl I went to high school with. She was a year ahead of me and we were in the same chemistry class initially. She ended up doing poorly and dropped down into a more basic chemistry. She also struggled in math and was in my level math classes as an older student. It just didn’t click for her. I lost touch with her over the years but she must have worked her mother fucking ass off because she just got her PHD in a subspecialty of biochemical sciences.


People learn differently and at different paces. Don’t let that discourage you from pursuing something you’re interested or passionate in. It is incredible how passion and the subsequent motivation can change your performance in an area you might not have previously “succeeded” in.

ophthalmologists are quacks I've had iritis a couple times and they just go yeah nothing really causes it just comes out of nowhere, take these drops once an hour every day and come sit in my waiting room for three hours a week so i can tell you your eye is still red

It depends if you count residency or not. Here in Canada it will take 8 years from high school graduation to completing medical school. After that a residency will take approx. 5 years. I think if that's what you want to do, you should definitely try. It sound like you're motivated from their ability to help you. You can use that as fuel to carry you through school. My friend made it through medical school and is currently on his last year of a pediatrics residency. For his case, he's very talented at school. He got a 4.0 in honors chem + undergrad research etc. etc. while not studying his ass off. My sister in law retook the MCAT three times and got in. She studied all day and puts in lots of extra work including taking some courses over in her undergrad to boost her GPA and paying for multiple prep courses. My point is I've seen people with less natural talent get in through sheer motivation. If you need to put in extra effort for classes now, I wouldn't let it discourage you. You will definitely need algebra to do well in college. Math just builds on itself and the things you don't learn properly will come back to haunt you. Find others who are trying to get into medical school and study together. Hope it helps a bit.

I know nothing about ophthalmology but you're gonna need trig and calc at the very least for the undergraduate physics classes. Understanding lenses and how light bounces of shit is probably pretty important.

Side note the university of utah has a pretty good program I think.
