T.L.I don't think I've ever complained about covid itself.

What I'll complain about is how the governments of the world are using it as a way to deliver us into a dystopian/totalitarian nightmare that's there's no peaceful return from.

calm down captain america its a vaccine to get rid of a disease that has killed over 4 million people worldwide

if you're worried about that then why not be up in arms about how wages haven't increased with productivity or inflation while rent has kept increasing alongside how its becoming more and more illegal to be homeless. Combine that with a better funded police with increased presence lacking accountability and we're getting to dystopian levels. What would make it truly dystopian would be if the environment started showing signs of fucked beyond repair...

Film.We have to ask ourself if this goal is feasible without complete totalitarian government control. If it is, it's not controversial. If it isn't it's very controversial.

Unfortunately, much of the damage has already been done thanks to the spread of misinformation and erosion of trust in our medical institutions. The data is there to back up the vaccines effectiveness and most anti mask and vaccine figureheads are reversing their positions. Those figureheads are getting called traitors cause the seeds of distrust have already taken root and people are stubborn. The only things left to convince people to get it are fda approval and more people dying to underline the seriousness. The government might issue a vaccination card or passport or something and leave it up to private businesses to require it or not like some mask ordinances were. You've got to show ID to get into a bar and thats not totalitarian control

I'd love to see patent law on the vaccine get waived so other countries can start producing it to lower the time covid has to mutate. That won't happy because Biden is trash tho

you're misunderstanding me here. I'm saying the government wants/needs people to work. The more people that get vaxxed are more people who are secured as labor for the future. This is also the same reason as the government not initially shutting down because it revolves around more people working rather than not. More workers = more labor = more gdp.

Unfortunately, this requires most people to get vaccinated and a lot of people have succumbed to misinformation, are stubborn as hell, or lean too hard into partisan bullshit when public health became politicized. Ah so that’s why they’ve increased unemployment benefits, because they want…people to….get back to…wait a second….

If, our government specifically, wanted to increase the labor pool they would have ended the extended unemployment benefits a long time ago. Because guess what? The people cashing in on that extra $300 a week? Most of them are probably vaccinated. Yet they still won’t go back into the job market until the tap is turned off. Absolute slap in the face to every American that has worked throughout this entire crisis.

So long story short thinking that getting people vaccinated will help the economy and keep this “whole thing from shutting down” is a crock of shit.

If you don't want to get vax'd that's fine, but prepare to be alienated and treated differently by most people. People who are vaccinated shouldn't be punished because of a bunch of braindead people won't get vax'd.

Science says we will live with covid for the rest of time, government overloads and totalitarians say this idea of zero covid is achievable. Sure it's achievable but it's not a world any of us want to live in. Israel is going back on lockdown again and they have one of the highest populations vaccinated per eligible population. Sydney, Aus has the military patrolling the street enforcing their 5th+ lockdown in the past year. It's a good thing they gave up all their guns. But they are in pursuit of a zero covid country, which is outright impossible and will be for the rest of time. No matter how many booster shots, no matter how many therapeutics people will continue to die with covid for the rest of our lives, it will get worse in the late summer/ early fall for states in the sunbelt then subside, and get bad in everything above the sun belt during the late fall and early winter. This seasonal cycle will go on forever, no matter what we do.

This is what I said earlier this never stops even if 99% of the eligible population of the US is vaccinated. Go on with life, if you wanna wear a mask wear a mask. If you wanna get vaccinated get vaccinated, but this idea that the FDA and CDC are gonna protect your health, and protect you from getting or dying from covid is insane. Let private businesses enforce whatever they want, I'm fully vaccinated I got my 2nd dose a few weeks ago and my bosses who are both older didn't force it on me but just said they'd appreciate if I did it. I don't carry my vaccine card anywhere, and a restaurant sitting outside looking at cards I won't go to. Let people live don't let the government have too much power over our lives. They already have so much

You lost me at eradicating, the Covid vaccine will never be able to eradicate the virus. It prevents you from getting extremely sick and lowers your odds of contracting it. But you can still contract the virus and spread it to others. So your unvaccinated individuals that are immunocompromised are still fucked until further notice.

T.L.Never once did I say vaccine distribution is being used to control people. Want the vaccine, take the fuckin vaccine. That's been my stance since day one. My issue has always been compulsory mandates.

Mandates by their very nature are controlling. Entities using their ever expanding authority to make certain actions and behavior compulsory. They're literally wielding their control over you that result in the outcomes they desire.

Aren't vaccines already compulsory? At least if you want to go to public schools, or be in the military, or travel to countries, or work in certain industries

Film.Science says we will live with covid for the rest of time, government overloads and totalitarians say this idea of zero covid is achievable. Sure it's achievable but it's not a world any of us want to live in. Israel is going back on lockdown again and they have one of the highest populations vaccinated per eligible population. Sydney, Aus has the military patrolling the street enforcing their 5th+ lockdown in the past year. It's a good thing they gave up all their guns. But they are in pursuit of a zero covid country, which is outright impossible and will be for the rest of time. No matter how many booster shots, no matter how many therapeutics people will continue to die with covid for the rest of our lives, it will get worse in the late summer/ early fall for states in the sunbelt then subside, and get bad in everything above the sun belt during the late fall and early winter. This seasonal cycle will go on forever, no matter what we do.

This is what I said earlier this never stops even if 99% of the eligible population of the US is vaccinated. Go on with life, if you wanna wear a mask wear a mask. If you wanna get vaccinated get vaccinated, but this idea that the FDA and CDC are gonna protect your health, and protect you from getting or dying from covid is insane. Let private businesses enforce whatever they want, I'm fully vaccinated I got my 2nd dose a few weeks ago and my bosses who are both older didn't force it on me but just said they'd appreciate if I did it. I don't carry my vaccine card anywhere, and a restaurant sitting outside looking at cards I won't go to. Let people live don't let the government have too much power over our lives. They already have so much

Obviously more is better but this is literally how we have forced diseases that were killing thousands of people 70 years ago to basically go extinct...only seeing emergences in areas or communities with low rates of vaccination.

BiffbarfCan't you still get and spread the delta varient when you're vaccinated? Vaccines aren't doing much for case numbers my man.

I see this talking point a lot, and again, I don't see claims from anyone worth anything in the scientific community that this will entirely stop the spread, you CAN still spread it if you have the vaccine but the AMOUNT of spread among those who are vaccinated is significantly lower.

In the same way we don't imply that seatbelts are useless because some people wearing seatbelts still die, the benefits of the vaccine, while not absolute, are much much better than the alternative.

That being said, I feel like if seatbelt wearing was trying to be mandated now....it would never pass.

Film.Damn that really sucks for them, let's make the rest of the US population miserable and hold them hostage for the .1% of the US population who can't get the vaccine because of immunodeficiency problems. Really good cost benefit analysis there.

Here lies the root of my issues with the pandemic.

Why were we effectively imprisoned in our own homes for a whole year to protect the minority of unhealthy people who are actually vulnerable to covid 19? Shouldn't it have been the other way round?

Its just always been so fucking backwards and it breaks my heart to see the gradual corrosion of our freedoms as vaccine passports are slowly being introduced. And its a true shame that the only reason I got the vaccine was because I was basically coerced into it -- otherwise I wouldnt be able to do the things I love or go to uni. Ridiculous.
