Here we go again,

The CDC and the government let us have our fun for the summer, now we have to muzzle ourselves and the children again. The media talks about cases but rarely touches upon deaths. I thought that from the beginning of the vaccination campaign that people understood that the vaccine would lessen the symptoms of Covid but not necessarily deter it. Why are people getting all freaked out about cases!? We should be focusing on death rate and treating the cases.

Yes, more people need to get vaccinated.

I do not think the government has the right to mandate it, but if they do, so be it. People will not be happy with it.

We should NOT be masking children as their case rate, transmission rate, and mortality rate are next to nothing. At this point it is just political theatre to mask them. And I do not see how the CDC made the decision to lift the mask mandate in May, but now it is crucial.

It is all a mess and I feel bad for our kids that have to keep living through this. The blame is not on Trump voters, there are plenty of people in blue areas not getting vaccinated.

I do not know the solution, but it all feels very wrong.

CeleryFuck the unvaxxed highschool kids, they made their choice. They had the option and it is no longer our job to protect them.

what do you think about infants? Because I have one of those, kids Under 1 are at high risk for severe illness- my wife and I are both vaccinated but the delta variant- or even regular Covid poses a risk that we can transmit the disease to our baby. Fortunately over 90 percent of my zip code is vaccinated but just out of precaution we don’t go around our red state friends that are making a point out of holding out, just stupid really-

Its your decision really. If you feel its best to protect your family in any way you can, then by all means feel free to do so. Its interesting how bothered people are by people just looking out for the safety and well being of their own families and others but it is what it is I guess.

My family got COVID a few months ago and I have a 4 year old and a 2 month old. Both my kids got a 102 fever for about 6 hours then went to bed and were 100% fine the next day. It actually made it hard because my Wife and I felt like shit and the kids were running around. I dont know about infants specifically but the disease appears to be very mild in small children.

SuspiciousFishMy family got COVID a few months ago and I have a 4 year old and a 2 month old. Both my kids got a 102 fever for about 6 hours then went to bed and were 100% fine the next day. It actually made it hard because my Wife and I felt like shit and the kids were running around. I dont know about infants specifically but the disease appears to be very mild in small children.

I’m not so much worried about my 3 year getting acutely I’ll, it’s just the unknowns of long term complications- which I understand are also uncommon but it does happen. The baby is pretty high risk until age 1 is more or less what I’ve been reading, but it’s just something you don’t want your kids to go through if you can help it.



Mostly I am just pussy because I have been telecommuting full time for the last 15 months and now my office is all fucking gung ho to get in person work back to normal so it’s being required that I go back even though our mask policies are tightening and case loads are going up. I hate my job and I want to quit.

My guess is that this is just a push to approve the vaccine for children 12 and under and to additionally sell the third/fourth round of vaccines..."If you get the booster you can take off the mask"...

Doesn't mean someone isn't paying for it, IE the government which is taxes. Its like how "healthcare is free in canada" when in reality their citizens are paying for it via taxes.

His point was people will continue to make money off of vaccines, but I disagree with him that the entire thing is a racket..

Do you not get a flu shot every year?

It is perfectly normal for a infectious virus that mutates a ton to require repeat vaccinations, no conspiracy there. Also antibodies decline over time

You mean like the flu shot?

Not sure what the big issue is with getting a shot these days. Walk into a pharmacy, present info for appointment, get the shot, walk out 15-20 minutes later, max.

I get the flu shot every year because 3/4 of my immediate family members are immunocompromised. It's not a big inconvenience at all. I'd much rather get the shot than be responsible for putting a family member in the hospital because I'm too fucking lazy to get it.

I’ll start by saying I’m vaccinated. But saying “I’m too lazy to get the shot” is such a dumb statement. Bro, it’s literally a persons choice. Just like it’s a woman’s choice to get an abortion or not. If someone doesn’t want to get a vaccine that doesn’t make them lazy or a bad person. Fuck off.

A woman getting an abortion is a decision that affects a very small group of people. Not getting vaccinated affects society as a whole and just delays everything from true normal

go do your own research and talk to your doctor about whats best for you. Make up your mind and don’t let anyone serve you their truth. I am personally not fond of vaccines. I do not think they are natural whatsoever. I did my research and came to the conclusion that I should get my Covid vaccine. It was simple and easy.

I wear a mask when I am asked, but choose not to otherwise. It’s not a problem to me. I simply don’t care. It’s not tyranny, it’s not ignorance. It’s just being a normal human being

See, if I had said that about the COVID vaccine, I'd agree with you. It hasn't been out that long, some people don't understand the science behind it, there's a whole boatload of misinformation out there, the list of reasons people don't want it go on and on. But I didn't. I said that about the flu vaccine. The flu vaccine has been around decades with proven efficacy and has been shown to massively reduce the # of infections.

The whole post I quoted was complaining about having to get a vaccine every year. To me, that sounds like being lazy.

But GTFO comparing abortions and vaccines. Not even close to being similar. Vaccines are usually given to protect the thousands, if not millions, of people beyond the person being vaccinated. An abortion really is affecting 2 or 3 people, depending on whether or not you view a preterm fetus as a living thing.

The regular old flu shot isn't advertised as a vaccine and propagandized as a pathway to normalcy by a government that takes more power than it gives back.

Congratulations on doing what YOU feel like you need to do in order to keep your family safe. You're free to do so, always have been, and always will be... as long as you're not inflicting your will on other people.

You're free to get all the shots you want, you're all free to wear as many masks as you want and anywhere you like. Just leave me out of it.

I'll never succumb to these faux guilt trips about 'muuuh other peeples healths' because it's never mattered before and it still doesn't matter for anyone or anything else... except covid and people who don't want or need a shot.

No amount of soapbox superhero larping will ever convince me to take a series of injections because geriatric government officials on the TV tell me to. I know I or anyone else can't force you to get a free vaccine but its pretty disrespectful to the 600,000+ Americans who have died and the millions more worldwide. Its privileged as fuck to refuse medicine that isn't available to the vast majority of the world because our government used our taxes to buy them. I'd love to see those get distributed instead of going to waste so people can attempt to prove they aren't sheep.

I'm not talking about traditional vaccines that are fully FDA approved have decades of data and proven results behind them. I'm talking about the fact that other people's health and life choices have never mattered to other people until now. Any time there's been a societal shift in peoples health habits the 'big ask' so to speak has been centered around not doing something that's affecting their health.

You shouldn't smoke, you shouldn't drink so much, you shouldn't eat so much junk food, you should exercise more, you shouldn't do drugs, you should protect yourself if you slap cheeks with randoms, etc... Those are behavior CHOICES.

Until now it's never been a demand that you add something to your body or your biological makeup in order to go grocery shopping.

This is all new and you know it. The overton window has shifted dramatically in a short period of time with the specific intention of invasive demands and overreaches by the government and you know it.

You have never needed to get the flu shot to enter indoor businesses either mandated by cities.

No, it's really not.

Want to travel to the foreign countries? Almost certainly need a vaccine for Yellow Fever, Cholera, Typhoid, or other diseases.

Want to come to the US on a green card or to study? Need a whole host of vaccines.

Want to go to a US college? 87.5% require at least 1 vaccine to attend.

Vaccine requirements are NOTHING new.

Fair enough man it was a weak guilt trip by me.

I'm frustrated that we won't reach herd immunity because of misinformation and distrust of science. It feels like a small thing to me to accept a free vaccine for the good of everyone else. I guess its a way bigger thing for other people but in my mind we're only going to trap ourselves in a never ending loop of masks, variants, and boosters with people getting culled throughout.

Its your choice but you give up your right to complain about it. Unvaxxed people had/have a chance to change the future with regards to this virus but didn't/aren't stepping up. Maybe this sounds guilt trippy too, but its hard not to when the obstacle to herd immunity are people choosing not to reach it

Well we did reach herd immunity. The "scientists" came up with the magical number of 70% immunization and we hit it yesterday, but I'd imagine it'll change to 90% now because moving the goal posts is their favorite thing to do.

Film.Well we did reach herd immunity. The "scientists" came up with the magical number of 70% immunization and we hit it yesterday, but I'd imagine it'll change to 90% now because moving the goal posts is their favorite thing to do.

It doesn't matter if the US vaccination rate is 99% as long as some buttfuck county is only at 30%, they will continue to incubate the virus and let it survive and mutate until the vaccine doesn't work anymore.

70% will only work if every single local community is at least at that level, it means nothing on a scale as large as the US

Even in the headline it says 30 states haven't hit 70% and that those states are getting thrashed by Covid. Idk what you think herd immunity is but it should be that 70% of people around you in any place are vaxxed

Biden's entire goal was 70% immunization for the entire country not by state. We hit the goal and rather than it being celebrated it's leading to more lockdowns in the places of course with extremely high vaccination rates anyway. So yes dummy I read the article and understood what the white houses actual vaccine goals were, you clearly didn't. Herd immunity changes depending on the transmission rate.


A higher R0 requires a higher vaccination rate. It shouldn’t be surprising with the Delta variant that the requirement for herd immunity changes as well.


This isn’t some random number they came up with and decided to change on a whim.

I don't think I've ever complained about covid itself.

What I'll complain about is how the governments of the world are using it as a way to deliver us into a dystopian/totalitarian nightmare that's there's no peaceful return from.

I'm saying just because we hit our admin's stupid national goals doesn't make it so we have herd immunity in practice. Covid is surging and hospitalizing people in states with low vaccine rates, that doesn't sound like success to me. Do you really think that cause we hit 70% nationally that we're in the clear and should celebrate?

Lets remind ourselves the goal here: get rid of the virus so fewer people die. We do that through vaccines and eventual herd immunity like we have done to diseases in the past. Idk how that's controversial
