Here we go again,

The CDC and the government let us have our fun for the summer, now we have to muzzle ourselves and the children again. The media talks about cases but rarely touches upon deaths. I thought that from the beginning of the vaccination campaign that people understood that the vaccine would lessen the symptoms of Covid but not necessarily deter it. Why are people getting all freaked out about cases!? We should be focusing on death rate and treating the cases.

Yes, more people need to get vaccinated.

I do not think the government has the right to mandate it, but if they do, so be it. People will not be happy with it.

We should NOT be masking children as their case rate, transmission rate, and mortality rate are next to nothing. At this point it is just political theatre to mask them. And I do not see how the CDC made the decision to lift the mask mandate in May, but now it is crucial.

It is all a mess and I feel bad for our kids that have to keep living through this. The blame is not on Trump voters, there are plenty of people in blue areas not getting vaccinated.

I do not know the solution, but it all feels very wrong.

I don't have sympathy for anti-vaxxers/people who think they don't need to get it. If you have health reasons that prevent you from receiving the vaccine, that's about the only legit reason why you shouldn't get it.

We have a stockpile of vaccines and plenty of resources to distribute it, the US was on an amazing pace and we're being shuttered by scared/dumb/hesitant people. People who are vaccinated shouldn't be punished because the other 30% of our population is too stupid/selfish/ignorant.

I don't blame anyone who is vaccinated for being frustrated about having to wear a mask, I'm guessing this new CDC guideline will only further confuse our citizens and further divide us as a country. The areas where masks actually might help right now are places with low vax rates and tons of people who refused to receive it, so I doubt they'll be wearing masks.

I’m so fucking mad. We worked so hard last year to try and get COVID cases down and during the last week of school they said masks would be optional last week. All I want is a normal ducking snr year and now I’m gonna have to deal with this COVID bullshit again. Make un vaxxed kids wear them idk. But the whole point of getting vaxxed was to go back to normal not just to repeat the same bull shit over again

Well for now, its just a "recommendation" I don't really have an opinion about schools and kids, i don't know shit about that and haven't been following any of it because it doesn't affect me. Teachers would be stupid to not be vaccinated and if it's safe for children, they should get it too.

This all comes down to hitting a certain number and people are just selfish for not getting vax'd, it's the same shit with voting, if everyone actually voted we'd probably be a lot happier about our political system. It's so each to do both things, but the rhetoric surrounding them is not only hurting these people, but the entire country.

I suppose I'll clarify this since I wasn't expecting all the downvotes, I'm not saying that you should all wear masks now and that we shouldn't get back to normal, I'm just speaking as to mostly my experience last year when I had a service job where I needed to wear a mask and just generally going out in public during the mask mandates, and it just never bothered me personally, I didn't mind it at all.

If you are fully vaccinated as of now, I do not blame you at all for not wanting to wear a mask and I don't think you should need to. The problem is that there are still enough communities in the US where vaccination rates are low enough to act as a breeding ground for the delta variant and keep it circulating, and there's no way to distinguish who is and isn't vaccinated without an ID system that I guarantee would get even more backlash than a mask mandate. I agree that it sucks that some places are needing to require masks again, but it will be that way until every single community gets herd immunity levels of vaccination.

If you are working somewhere hot or doing something strenuous, I can totally imagine that wearing a mask would be hell and I feel you there, or I suppose you could just be more sensitive to that sort of thing than me. I just never felt it was a big deal and I think that the "tha gubment is putting muzzles on us and takin our freedomz" people are massively overreacting and mostly ideologically motivated.

I didn't use to think this way, but I'm to the point where I strongly believe more organizations need to make vaccinations mandatory. Vaccines have always been mandatory for schools and medical professionals. The Covid vax should be no different.

All this optional "we recommend getting vaccines" and back and forth on mask mandates are the reason why 40% of adult Americans still aren't vaccinated. The communication is confusing and there aren't any good incentives to get a vaccine for many people. Until you start taking away rights, Americans prefer not to act on something.

I'm happy to see that vaccines are being mandated by more and more businesses and organizations. Most Universities are making vaccines mandatory. Biden is about to make it mandatory for all Federal workers. The VA just made them mandatory, as well as the American Medical Association and American Nurses Association for all healthcare workers.

Statistics show that of the remaining 40% unvaccinated, half of them are on the fence about the issue. And the other 20% are completely against the vaccine. If we can vaccinate the 20% on the fence, herd immunity should hopefully kick in and protect the children, immuno-comprimised, and everyone else who is still at risk and can't be vaxed at this time.

Delta is straight up killing people and the government was forced to do something about it. The pandemic is only a problem for unvaxed Americans. It's like damn elementary school where the whole class gets punished because a few bad kids weren't listening. Take away recess for the bad kids and let the rest of us go play.

I misspoke. Rights are rights. But I think it’s perfectly reasonable to lose privileges and opportunities if you’re a frontline worker. The government has an obligation to protect its citizens, even if it means placing restrictions on certain individuals

I get being skeptical about it at first but like why not get it by now, millions of people have gotten the vaccines and the data obviously shows there are no major side effects. You know what's fucking crazy? Our covid daily total is actually higher now than last summer. I saw some official was predicting we could be back to 200k+ cases a day come fall or early winter. That honestly doesn't sound out of the question especially with kids added to the mix. Kids were largely unscathed due to quarantines and masking and distancing last year. Good news is that many of the at risk people are vaccinated so we shouldn't have as high of death rates. Pediatric complications are still no joke; MIS-C is one of the scariest things I've seen.

Yeah, there is a possibility that a variant that the vaccine doesn't work against will come out of some developing country that isn't getting vaccines until 2023 cuz the US bought them all.

But that is definitely not an excuse to not get vaccinated, because it can be all over in the US for the time being if we all get vaccinated

At this point if you’re at risk you should be in charge of your own safety and wear a mask, stay home, etc. People that are vaccinated and healthy shouldn’t have to wear masks or social distance.

All National Parks now require people that are 2 and older, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask inside their facilities.

I'm going to Yellowstone and Tetons in like a week. I'll see how fast I get kicked out for not wearing one.

Its easy to say that all Trump voters lean right or conservative, that doesn't mean the opposite. Not all rectangles are squares but all squares sure as hell are rectangles. Now we're seeing vaccination rates that are way shittier with those voters backed up by statistics. It shouldn't be a surprise given who has been peddling misinformation about the seriousness of Covid, distrusting our country's medical experts, and inspiring low confidence in the vaccine. Its been hilarious to see all these same right wing officials and news outlets walking back their bullshit to cover their tracks and beg people to get vaccinated now like they weren't the ones who opened Pandora's box and fanned the flames.

The fact is that the USA is the richest country on earth so we could buy a ton of vaccines when it was first developed. A lot of those vaccines have gone to waste because people here wont take them. Statistically, the blame goes to Trump voters for wasting the majority of them. Every vaccine wasted is one less vaccinated person on the planet which means it lengthens the time for Covid to run rampant and mutate into variants.

Apparently if anyone mentions that then it turns into people bitching and moaning about how the "lefties" persecute people for their conservative views. Shut the fuck up and stop playing victim or retreating behind "what happened to good civil debate?"

Per usual don't treat anything skierman says as fact.
Tucker may have gotten it, I don't know couldn't find anything about him getting it. But they didn't "have to" as you said above, it was entirely voluntary.
