Dalbello Il Moro lower buckle

So I've just picked up a pair of Il Moros for insanely cheap and was wondering, why does the lower buckle have 2 options for where to close the buckle and what are the pros and cons of using one over the other?

I would guess to change the last on the fly? Not seen it with the two ladders for one buckle but on my panterras and other dalbellos they have a buckle right over your toes that tightens up the last from 100 to 102mm

I'm not sure but they're super fucking comfy using the ladder that's set back on the foot further. Normally in boots i get gnarly cramp through my arches, these don't seem to give me that at all, although that could be due to me putting a proper foot bed in them.... And not being in boots 2 sizes too big like my last pair

The upper ladder probably pulls your foot more backwards to prevent your heel from moving around (?). I had these same excact boots and just always used the one closer to the heel. My problem with these boots (and many other boots) was that I always fucked up the buckles when skiing because they just weren’t durable enough when they were hit hard by rails or smn.
*honestly i have no idea that’s just what i thought it was for
