Is it cultural appropriation?
Normally I hate that term but don't durags only function for the hair of Blacks, specifically for waves?
So wouldn't using one be almost like explicitly trying to be Black or something?
EdensDemiseIdk what his thoughts are on Harlaut but I agree with what @_brrett said. If something would look stupid just wearing it it doesn't look any less stupid when you're skiing. In snowboarding nobody's under the impression that wearing a durag and 10XL is anything but fucking ridiculous. Harlaut and similar type stuff seems like more of a costume than a fit to me if that makes sense
I dunno I kinda like skiing being ridiculous, it makes everything more fun. Parts of park skiing are too weird to appeal to the masses which is probably why it's more underground than snowboarding, but wouldn't it be lame if everybody dressed normally? Also yes I get that there is a limit but we won't know what it is unless we constantly push it.

BLandzIMO dont wear shit that you wouldnt wear in public. People tend to act real gangster with all there ski clothes and masks on but if you arent like that irl then youre just being fake on the slopes to try and be cool. Like I get it if you wanna wear baggy shit because it looks better but idk I personally think dudes that rock the durag are doing too much ngl.

i'm super fucking guilty of this, I wear baggy as fuck clothes to the skatepark/mountain but would never wear them in the streets, a day when i'm not skating/skiing, on a date, etc.
idk why that's a problem tho, imo action sports look better w baggy clothing and that's that, it also helps me feel steezier.

i think the best thing to do is get a ski mask and wear it as a durag. it is functional especially in the summer when you don't want to wear a full mask but don't want to get sun burnt on the back of your neck. and they look sick but i'd say don't go buy an actual durag

yo this is actually so interesting because compare this with australia which has pretty low mountains (biggest is 2.2km high — 1.3 miles for you yankees) but really high UV exposure due to where we’re situated in regard to the equator. we get 15% more UV exposure compared to the northern hemisphere.
that being said i still don’t wear goggles a lot so i’m probably going to go blind at 25. i actually burnt my eyeballs once skiing all day in september. i am an idiot.
id ski at hyland hills over any park with a lift in the country, tow ropes are simply incomparable to getting like 20-30 laps a day on a good day with a lift. Hills across the midwest and east coast are much more appealing to me, especially their tight knit culture.
lilprememy point exactly, harlaut apparel is gimmicky as hell. appeals to the early teen / oldhead skiers who think 2013 was the peak of skiing and hate the bunch. harlaut himself used to be an enjoyable skier to watch back in like 2017 with no poles and good style, imo since his apparel dropped he kinda fell off

I can count on one hand how many days I wore gogs last season. Its gotta be real in the Midwest to make it worth it. Sunglasses or nothing moat days.

I don’t like the Durag on white skiers. I think it’s very cringe. Same with the gangster aesthetic. So weird how people defend it too when you point it out. How about anyone defending it just realizes where they are in life for one second instead of being so sensitive.
But I also don’t like the idea of telling people what to do. So they can keep doing that in my book but it still doesn’t make them not a white boy wearing a durag.

Durags help more than to keep waves though. I'm a goofy af white guy and use a durag every day after the shower to keep my hair from frizzing out while it dries. Gotta be a silk one, and usually I just wear my silk lined ball cap so people don't post threads about me culturally appropriating on newschoolers.
