Craw_DaddyWe haven't drafted people since Vietnam. Who the fuck cares? I'm much more worried about rich people dodging the draft than trannys. Thanks to the military-industrial complex and our enormous standing army, our country has an endless supply of poor people to fight wars for the rich.
steeze_louisewe have not actually drafted people since Vietnam but 18 year old men are still required to sign up for it.
Craw_DaddyYeah, we're required to sign up for something that's meaningless. So to answer your question more directly. No, trans men shouldn't have to sign up for the draft (along with everyone else!) because it's a waste of time and resources. Signing up for a draft doesn't matter when your country spends almost a trillion dollars a year on the military. You could also make an argument that trans men don't have a body composition that's ideal for fighting and that they have mental health issues meaning that they are unfit to serve. There are plenty of trans service members though and all of them are braver than your stupid-question-asking ass.
EdensDemise"it"
fuck you
EdensDemise"it"
fuck you
steeze_louiseIt is also extremely transphobic of you to claim that there is a difference between men and women
safarisamFYI, selective service isn’t really called the draft anymore since the military moved away from that method. That said, yeah. If they’re male they need to be on it if they’re an American citizen.
Craw_DaddyFYI in the US, we commonly refer to military conscription as "getting drafted" and registering for selective service as "signing up for the draft"
JAHpowThis is not transphobic. This is reality. You're insane if you think it is transphobic, or even misogynistic, to make that claim.
Charlie_KellyGod forbid there’s another draft, they’d be drafting the generation known for eating tide pods and using words like “cheugy”.
Jemsi don’t think he meant “it” as the person
skiermanLOL at the social justice warrior getting upset someone referred to the draft as "it".
EdensDemiseSorry you’re right I read it wrong
Dustin. It's dumb that anyone has to sign up. As if we can't figure out who is 18 and male by SSN. Typical government idea to create a department of doing 1 thing poorly to join the countless others.
DingoSeanOh god cry about the government employing people more...
Dustin.I work for the government, don't challenge me on this one. We spend too much money, it's amazing how hard I work to put money to good use instead of on absolute stupidity. The government can't just create jobs without taxing people more, that's a self-licking ice cream cone.
DingoSeanThey are never going to have another draft again after Vietnam... shit was antiquated then as it is now.
Any war the USA needs to put that many boots on the ground for would be a war that will eventually require some nuclear weapons. They were playing with fire back in the Cold War as it is... and the only nuclear nations that the USA truely sees as threats - Russia and China - are way way too self interested to want to escalate to a nuclear conflict now that they are run by capitalist oligarchs.
HypeBeastNever say never....
But fr if there ever was another world War in our lifetimes that didn't end in nuclear holocaust, then you can certainly expect they're calling on selective service. The obvious enemies vastly outnumber our current military size.
r00kieNo because the draft is stupid and shouldn't exist. If the US has a shortage of soliders maybe they should find more noble wars to get involved in.
DingoSeanThe obvious enemies?
.frenchynah we dont want them in our military anyway
HypeBeastThere's clear distinctions of which countries are currently allies with each other so barring some conflict outside those places, if there were to be a war tomorrow you could pretty much bet China, Russia, NK, Iran, and Pakistan would all be allies with each other and we would certainly be the opposition. There's obviously more but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who are friends and foe in the world today. Nato still exists which is one of the more lasting treaties or agreements out there right now. Use the worldwide search bar if you want to learn more about global relations between countries. The US helping other countries with aid isn't benevolence; it's strategic.

DingoSeanLol, the government spends a lot more on corporate welfare in order to retain jobs in the private sector.. And dont even get me started on the military industrial complex..
The selective service costs america 23 million dollars a year. Thats like what... 6, maybe 7 Naval Torpedos?
If we are going to talk about government waste, then hooo boy.
DingoSeanThe obvious enemies?
What country is enough of a downright enemy to us or our closest allies that also has enough power to where the American voters would support such a mobilization effort?
Look, it would be one thing if Mexico all of a sudden lost it's mind and started sending drugged out Catholic suicide bombers over the border... but the farfetchedness of one of our neighbours going bananas just doesn't make sense...
If China started attempting to invade Taiwan, for example... the amount of remote military hardware the USA has today already removes the need for a mass mobilization and training of troops in such an extreme event...
not to mention the fact that we got the bomb which is some serious deterrence.
The only way I could se selective services being used would be if we had a civil war... and even then it would likely play out without much standing army involvement as it would be guerrilla as fuck
little1337Shit takes and frenchy go together like peanut butter and jelly
.frenchylol more like we don’t need to be wasting even more military spending on sex change surgeries. and it’s a distraction for everyone and effects unit readiness. but hey what do i know about the military!
JAHpowWords heard in the upcoming war with China-
"POGGERS"
"CRACKED HIS ARMOR"
"I'm running Amax, Kar98, what's your loadout?"
"PUSHING"
"I'm gonna rotate left in zone"
"GUY SNIPING UP IN THE TREES AT 234°"
.frenchylol more like we don’t need to be wasting even more military spending on sex change surgeries. and it’s a distraction for everyone and effects unit readiness. but hey what do i know about the military!
SavageBiffObviously not much which is why you’ll be on that frontline forever, but that’s ok, we need mindless meat shields
.frenchylet me guess you’ve been in the military for a year and think you’re some high speed little ranger? you just sound like an absolute idiot who keeps calling me a meat shield too…. couldn’t think of a better way to go than dying for my country sooo
steeze_louisethe draft is not meaningless, we could easily go to war with china in the next couple of years. It is also extremely transphobic of you to claim that there is a difference between men and women and that trans people just have a mental health issue. Check your privilege bigot.
