I imagine it would be really sick having someone whose hyped to do your favorite shit with you. Or is it over rated and nicer to just have alone time away from the lady? Do I just pee in her butt and call it a day? Thoughts?
My girlfriend skis! Our first time hanging out I picked her up and went up to the mountain and I seduced her with a backflip (true story). She doesn't really freestyle ski, or like leaving the ground much at all but can make it down just about anything at significant speed. I hate waiting, but I found myself waiting more when riding with my snowboard crew who would try stuff and eat shit vs my girlfriend who would reliably make it back to the lift no later than 30 seconds after me.
She also doesn't feel like she's missing out on the feature when she goes around to film it so there's no struggle there and she usually gets a dope shot. I got her to slide a box to switch this past season and hopefully next year she does a backflip into pow.
Its really dope having a girlfriend that shreds, but sometimes I wish she was more into trying tricks, riding park, and dropping cliffs. At the same time, I'm not really into the trendy skater skier type, although they tend to throw down and that's cool too.

Had an ex girlfriend that skied, and it would get adorably competitive on the hill. Lol I guess we had it in our heads that whoever was the better skier got to be the "man" in the relationship.
Ugh, I got so spoiled cuz she worked at the resort. What a great season!
Although we both loved skiing, our world views didn't align... which is way more important than sharing a single hobby. We eventually realized we were better off as friends.
Just stalked her insta, and it looks like she's head over heels with a doppelganger that loves the mountains as much as she does. I wish them a happy Pride Day!
The key is to get a partner who can ski, but doesnt want to ski with you every single day. That way you can enjoy it together on occasion, and they can understand your passion, but you are able to go skiing with your buddies or by yourself and have a good time independent of your relationship.
Obviously some couples do great when both partners are extremely invested in skiing, but theres a chance you will get squeezed in that circumstance as I have been... additionally, you dont want a partner who has absolutely no interest in skiing whatsoever for they might not understand how seriously passionate you are about skiing and hold it against you when you change plans abruptly due to a powder day.
My girlfriend fully understands now that if it looks like it will snow heavily, plans are likely going to need to change... doesnt mean I dont love her or I dont care about whats important to her, but its that I only have a few months of the year where I can enjoy my one thing that truely drives me and she gets me the rest of the time.
Life is all about balance. It’s understood that Skiing is the priority during winter/spring because that’s my passion. Hers is the beach so we do that during the summer.
I would say, even though she has a season pass, she still only goes skiing with me roughly 50% of the time. Other half of the time I get to spend solo or with my friends.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Find someone who understands your love of skiing and wants to be involved SOME of the time and is cool with you storm chasing or making last minute plans to go ride with homies.

It’s fun. Obviously has its challenges and benefits. I think fostering any relationship with a commonly appreciated activity that doesn’t get obsessive to the point where you’re competitive or self worth is wrapped up in something that’s just sliding down snow on metal/fiberglass sticks is a beneficial thing overall.

boyfriend is great at skating, and I film a lot for him. when we started dating he saw how much i loved skiing, so he got into snowboarding just to follow me around the park. he's slowly getting more and more into it.
