WoFlowzMy family went on a 4 day trip to killington last year for 800$ including gas, passes, food and lodging. There’s ways to save on trips. But gosh a 2grand ski trip outwest would be so fun
code3O7So I have a special needs brother. Like really special needs.
No walking, talking, feeding himself, changing himself, intelligent interaction, nothing.
Full care wheelchair bound.
My mom and dad were cattle ranchers in Wyoming. On top of working for the ranch after school I had to take care of my brother when my parents separated and my mom had to work after school.
So everyday instead of hanging out with friends or doing after school stuff I took my brother home and did full caregiving untill 7 or 8.
Since this took up what time I would have to save for Windells. (and I did save and help purchase my camp trips every year) my mom helped me out with it for 4 summers.
I know it's a sons duty to look after your siblings no matter what but I am still incredibly thankful for my Windells experience my mom was able to gift me with.
It gave me something to look forward to when I wasn't getting the normal high school experience.
Not to mention I would of 100% bought a speed suit and joined the race team had Tommy Elingson not taught me a rail slide at Windells 15 years ago. I bought my frist twin tips at Windells for $45.
It's safe to say I might not of become the skier I am today without Windells.
DesertStixWhere do you live? I’m actually thinking this is more than an $800 trip unless you live there
weastcoastKids who go to ski academies are even worse. Cool story bro that your parents would want to throw 40K a year down the drain just so you can ski carinthia everyday, and for you to end up not going to college just to be a burnout druggie and move to SLC and milk their money until you’re 24. Pricks.
CatBoyAnyone here attend the adult camp? now that I’m 30 yo and making career money it’s about time I lived my 14-year-old dream.
WoFlowzWestern New York like out near buffalo. We got tickets for two with our stay and 50percent off the other tickets with our REI membership I think. Stayed at a AirBnB condo with a pull out coach, bedroom and kitchen. And brought all our food from home
CLQThe entirety of skiing in the US has been based around privileged white people. Do you really want to go down this rabbit hole?
bradwaltersThere's more salt in this post than in the snow at Windells

J_ChristophA more interesting rabbit hole would be finding which pro skier has the least fortunate parents…
Unless one of them ends up being an orphan.
weastcoastIt’s just annoying as fuck bc a lot of the kids are cocky about it.
that being said it’s honestly a waste of money if you live close to a good park. I live 40 mins from my hill and it has a rope park, for the past 3 seasons I’ve skied 5-6 days a week and most days out there I’m trying new stuff or trying to get better at what I’ve already done. Being out there almost every night of the week did wonders for my bag of tricks, consistency, and style, compared to where I was 4 years ago. That’s why I never saw the point of coaches, whether I’m riding alone or with a crew I’m always teaching myself new shit. Like it’s not rocket science lmao you don’t need a coach to learn how to sw tails 2 or toss 3 swaps.
r00kieBring on the down votes but the whole concept of 'core' is pretty stupid. It's just skiing guys.
WoFlowzSounds like something some one who isn’t core would say

SessionMilfHunter in here checking papers.
FruitBootProHonestly this whole "core" dick measuring contest is getting so fucking annoying and also the reason why ppl don't take us seriously, think we're toxic, etc. Yeah comp skiing and comp culture is wack af right now but when it comes to the recreational/non-serious side of freeskiing, just ski what you like and how you like. Ironically this whole chip-on-the-shoulder shit about who/what is core is kinda defeating the purpose of distancing ourselves from comp skiing. I don't give a fuck about what skis are "core" or not, i'm gonna buy the gear that interests me whether it's Voelkl or Vishnu, and i'm gonna wear the kit i want, and i'm gonna work towards the style i fucking want. Trends and culture should be a fun way to explore new styles and feel camaraderie, instead of being about feeling superior.
