weastcoastKids who go to ski academies are even worse. Cool story bro that your parents would want to throw 40K a year down the drain just so you can ski carinthia everyday, and for you to end up not going to college just to be a burnout druggie and move to SLC and milk their money until you’re 24. Pricks.
jompcocktbf half the kids I knew who went to ski academies got into ridiculously good colleges while the other half are burnouts. The ability to ski every day and get pretty much one on one teaching seems to result in one of two outcomes most of the time.
I didn't go to a ski academy but the people who waste air bitching about ski academy kids are as annoying as ski academy kids themselves. Seems like your qualms are with spoiled kids and not people who take advantage of opportunity. I know what I would've done if I was given the option to ditch public school.

Jemsyou’re literally describing half of zootspace and child labor
switchlip2Hood = core
windells = daddy’s money cock suckers
keagan.karstensIsn’t it like $800 to ski at hood tho in the summer

CatdickBojanglesThe only core thing to do in the summer is watch bagotricks videos and make the whole world your playground with finger skis.
weastcoastIt’s just annoying as fuck bc a lot of the kids are cocky about it.
that being said it’s honestly a waste of money if you live close to a good park. I live 40 mins from my hill and it has a rope park, for the past 3 seasons I’ve skied 5-6 days a week and most days out there I’m trying new stuff or trying to get better at what I’ve already done. Being out there almost every night of the week did wonders for my bag of tricks, consistency, and style, compared to where I was 4 years ago. That’s why I never saw the point of coaches, whether I’m riding alone or with a crew I’m always teaching myself new shit. Like it’s not rocket science lmao you don’t need a coach to learn how to sw tails 2 or toss 3 swaps.
PeteMahnGet off your ass and get a job. If your 16 you can be a junior counselor at Woodward at Copper and get a free week at camp. You pay for one and get the second free. If they like you there's a chance you can get 2 free weeks which is an insanely good deal as that includes staying overnight and all meals included. Also as Gavin mentioned MHSSC which is affordable.
Also if anyone is interested in a Summer setup I have one in NH and you can have it for free. Drop in with astro turf but the top needs a little work; just needs the plywood replaced on the top of the drop in. You just need to pick it up.
armchair_skierI cringe every time someone says “my coach” on this site lol
DeebieSkeebiesIs skiing just a bunch of rich kids complaining that other rich kids are having fun? lol damn, some of you are salty.
armchair_skierSomething something I’m not that rich
Something something 5 mil

QuaggyI dont know OP, this is pretty core if you ask me
But...
I didn't go, just bought it off someone because I certainly don't got it like that.
c-friesI went. Line TC week 2011. I was 15. Probably the greatest week of my entire life.
My parents and both sets of grandparents all split the cost. Like a 16th birthday present sort of thing. I had begged them for like two years every day. Like printed out marketing material and hid it around the house for them to randomly find kinda thing. Still cannot believe they caved and actually spent the money.
Still haven’t received a gift that nice and for how formative of an experience it was for me I probably never will. Obviously Windells Academy (Wyeast* or whatever it is now) itself is insanely expensive, but a lot of the kids that I met at the week session were pretty normal kids tbh. They or their family members had saved up a lot of money for them to be there and they were just absolutely beyond stoked. Never met a kid who was there and not incredibly stoked/honored to be there. (I’m sure people who worked/coached there could say differently lol) but still.
I have zero shame, come get me.
skiermanLOL at wealthy, white children arguing with other wealthy, white children over who is more privileged.

Film.Never been to windells but I think the idea that going for one week is some insanely expensive sojourn is laughable. It's maximum $2,500? Shit I don't know about you but when I have kids and they are bugging the hell out of you that price sounds more and more reasonable.

DesertStixYeah kids go on 2k trips all the time. Pretty much any overseas trip racks up that much so if you ever traveled as a kid you’re doing the same thing lol. Hell, going to NYC for a week will run you more than that…
WoFlowzMy family went on a 4 day trip to killington last year for 800$ including gas, passes, food and lodging. There’s ways to save on trips. But gosh a 2grand ski trip outwest would be so fun
Vincent.CrudoWhen I went it was like $2k for the week and that included housing, food, skatepark access, transportation to the mountain, lift tickets, unlimited skatepark use, trampoline use, etc etc I mean honestly, thats probably how much a summer ski trip costs so I don't really see how its less core than shredding timberline, this sport is boujee asf its literally a rich people thing so anything expensive is "core" let's be honest lmfao
inb4 someone hits me with the "I live in vermont and my parents work at the mountain and...." like yeah thats true there are mad ski bums but I bet if u ask anyone at the mountain 50% of the time they're gonna say they own a second house by the mountain or a condo and the other 50% are usually college kids there for the weekend cuz the passes are cheap with their school discount. The rest of the people who live there are probably chilling on a tuesday shredding with no lines
Should mention I went once when I was 14 and that was like 8 years ago idk what the price is now

WoFlowzIt’s 2500-3500 and it’s 3799 with access to the pipe
Quaggy$999 for a summer pass,
$1249 for a summer pass + Freestyle Training Center which allows you to attend the "private" summer terrain parks.
If you've got the means to do it a place to sleep, it's a blast up there in the summer, even if you're ballin' on a budget and hiking to poach some Palmer public park laps.
