PSA I'm ashamed to say I fell for buying something from this site. It was on my cell phone and I thought it was an overstock type site. Site looked a little screwy but it came up doing a product search on google.

It is 100% a scam.

If you are on your phone the order sequence automatically pops-up paypal and if you have face id on it pays them. Paypal says it's not a real merchant, it's a "gift card" that is sent. The email address is out of the country and a scam. Since it's a gift you sent and not a merchant it circumvents PayPal's fraud policies. It's as if you sent a gift to someone and then decided to tell PayPal you didn't mean to. They don't care.

My fault for browsing around and jumping on something I thought was a good summer overstock deal.

Physical address is listed in Golden CO but if you search it, it brings up a totally different unrelated company. Phone is a random person's cell phone number. Email bounces back.

Wait, so if you have face id it automatically pays someone just buy browsing or adding something to cart? I would get rid of that shit then. That sounds fucked.

Bummer, at least they didn't get you for more. Obviously hindsight is 420 but always good to search out any websites, even post on here about skiing ones.

I bought my splitboard from some canadian place I'd never heard of and seemed maybe suspect but checked on here and people from Canada confirmed it was legit. Same with buying skateboard shit in Australia.

Idk there's so many merchants out there these days and a lot are legit but def gotta be super careful. Sometimes a good deal is a good deal, but a lot of shit is too good to be true. Hopefully you can work something out but sounds like you're kinda fucked.

Hopefully you find a good legitimate deal for skis before next season man!

The way this one worked is the shopping cart on the site was rigged. I was expecting next to put in CC info, name etc, and it pulled up paypal via direct link and bang.

Being on my phone was definitely the main culprit.

I saw the Golden address, local phone, and went yea that makes sense someone popped up a little surplus store for a month or too.

You must have a weird Face ID thing setup with PayPal because mine doesn’t do that. I’ve seen where Apple Pay tries to do it but it’s usually easy to catch. Regardless, that sucks. My condolences. Can you contact your bank? Was it via your credit card or debit card linked to PayPal?

I refuse to do PayPal transactions as gifts for exactly this reason. Paypal has always done right by me, as long as it's not a gift.

We bought concert tickets in tahoe a couple years ago. Dude was pretending to be some middle age lady from town or had stolen her account. Asked us to send it as gift so he wouldn't eat the fees. We tacked on the extra amount for the fee ao they got exactly the right amount.. started seeming suspicipus and dove into the profile and they had liked a couple if obscure indian shows/movies.

Like word, this is some dude in India. Told him straight up to give us the money back or pay pal would refund us and probably shut down his account. He didnt, pay pal refunded us. Took 10 days but was worth it. Dudes account probably got nuked.

Def worth the fees to not get fucked over.

If you paypal account is funded with a credit card, try reporting it to the CC.

After some back and forth PayPal covered the loss.

If this happens to anyone else, file a dispute AND also message PayPal separately explaining the situation in more detail. The dispute resolution just kicks off a process that the scammer can circumvent. If you also message them, kind of a pain to find on the paypal site as well they can escalate better outside the mostly automated process they have.
