T.L.Because pension funds and asset management firms like Black Rock are buying up every house they can get their hands on, way above market rate, using infinite, interest-free money they're being funneled by the federal reserve.
Welcome to The Great Reset, homie. You'll own nothing and be happy about it, or else.

HypeBeastIs this really a thing? Or conspiracy? Cuz the housing market is on fire even without outside investors. Most homes are getting 10-20+ offers easy within a few days of listing. I do know you can sell your home to various companies like opendoor for quick sales and less hassle. They underpay, then fix a few things and resell for a profit. Although I think they're not profitable last time I checked.

IdahoeI might be just a pessimist, but I feel like the main thing I've learned from the little time in my life that I've spent in the "real" adult world is that this coming generation is unequivocally fucked, no matter what they do. Don't go to college? enjoy working for pennies doing menial labor just to afford rent and food. god forbid you end up having a kid on accident or a medical emergency, then your life is completely over. Go to college? unless you are loaded, or play your cards right, you end up loaded with student debt that you have no hope of paying off, because even "high demand" STEM professions are now extremely hard to get, even with a college degree and internships/experience. even if you didn't take on any debt for college, you still might waste 4-5 years of your life studying for a job you won't be able to get when you graduate. Trade school seems like the best option, but won't the same influx of experienced workers happen as soon as people entering the work force realize that college is not a one-way ticket to a comfortable existence? at least trade school takes less time and costs less, but I have a hard time seeing the difference between it and college.
Bottom line, it seems that for this generation the only way to guarantee a somewhat comfortable existence in which you have a family, own your own house, and be in a position where a sudden emergency won't financially cripple you is to be born somewhat wealthy in the first place. I hope I'm wrong, but gd being in the real world thus far has fucking beat me down.
skiermanhahahahaha
that's what happens when you ride on trends 8 years too late, you fucking prick.
Kids are so fucking unoriginal and pathetic, you deserve to be homeless. Say hi to Schlopy for me, you dumbasses.

skiermanKeep coddling children's dumb decisions because they refuse to put any effort into deciding where to live/study. It seems to be working out well!
IdahoeI came to utah cuz I got a full academic scholarship from the U which made it cheaper than anywhere else I applied, u saying thats a dumb decision? I would still rather be going to school here and living in my car than getting in a massive amount of debt in a place where rent is cheap. fuck off and go back to jerking off the the memory of "hOw CoOl UtAh UsEd To Be" before all the Californians showed up.
skiermanHahaha BULLLSHIIIIIIT. You're too lazy to type out two extra letters to form real words, you lazy piece of gen-Z trash. What'd you get a scholarship for? Chugging Natty Ice, brooo? If you're fine with living in your car then why are you creating threads bitching about housing in SLC?
You're a weak piece of privileged shit, that's why.
