Has anyone mobbed Argentina?

I've been WFH for about 15 months now and after a fire season of fucking off on fridays to ride key and a bay and answer teams messages from my phone, I've realized that I'm certainly not ready for the season to be over and want to continue this trend.

A good friend and I have had the idea in theory for months and months and to WFH for a month of the summer in another country where we could ski too. Glaciers in Europe are way too damn expensive and the time change doesn't allow me to attend the meetings I have as priority. So we've landed on a new solution.

For the month of July and part of august, we'll be skiing and riding out of San Carlos De Bariloche in Argentina. Time zone works out where i can ski 9-noon then work 12:30-9 PM, which im unreal stoking on. Just booked the 2 bedroom house in the town center (surprisingly affordable at about $22 per night per person for 24 nights). Renting a car as well, crazy lucky to pull this off, been saving for since idea inception 8 months ago.

My question for the boys is - has anyone ever ridden in Argentina or this mountain range specifically? Wondering if anyone can provide insight on the mountain (is the park popping, where the danky terrain is, is apres a beautiful shitshow, etc.)

I realize there are websites with info and shit but honestly many are surprisingly cryptic, especially the ticket office site, so would love insight there too.

I know there's a casino in town and looking to make sure the argentinean steakhouses aren't the only warm cuts of meat you can find after hours short of a whorehouse so lmk about nightlife (heard there are clubs in town).

Do it. It’s surprisingly easy, you just can’t rely more n the internet as much. Once ur all set up people will help you. There will be plenty of nightlife

Skiing until 12 would suck, and only having 30 minutes to get back to town is not realistic (traffic can get crazy). Steak is great, clubs go off all night, park is fairly legit. I don't usually get down there until Sept, but i've heard they don't really get the park going until mid August. Bariloche is rad, but it's def not like skiing in the States.

good looks on traffic boss - we do have a rental whip for the entire time. i know you mentioned traffic being a bitch but not sure if that helps at all as far as avoiding public transit/waiting for busses? sick couloir shot thats fire

I can’t find Argentina’s border website but all the other official pages I’m seeing from other governments are showing that foreign nationals and non-residents can’t enter Argentina. Also, they were quick to lock their borders (even to citizens) so it makes it more believable. Granted, I could be wrong but I’ve done a fair bit of traveling internationally during COVID and it doesn’t look promising.

Where are you seeing that you can enter? And past that - how do you know you will have a flight? Places like australia are chaos right now with limited flights in.

Im not trying to be a negative Nancy, it’s just things aren’t as easy as they once were and it usually takes a decent amount of preparation.

Under the best conditions, no weather, no traffic it still takes 30 minutes to get from the mountain to "el centro". There are two routes, Bustillo the main hiway along the lake and Pioneeros which is kinda the back way thru a lot of neighborhoods with a lot of traffic lights. Traffic (as well as most everything else) is less than organized down there. Bariloche has over 250,000 people so getting around there is def a cluster 90% of the time. Also police check points are often set up a couple of miles down from the mountain just to fuck w/ you. Good luck if you they open up and you can get down there its lit! I've been down there 10+ times and its amazing, but don't think it's like skiing in US or Europe.

Yeah, i just check the US embassy website and ARG is still a no go. I'm hoping by Sept. they can get things under control and travel can resume.. but if you know anything about ARG, the chances of them getting their shit together and back to normal are pretty slim.
