Dude I've been to Brazil, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia and I can tell you with 100% confidence that they are far worse off than us. Their leaders have political opponents and journalists shot, not subpoena'd. Free speech is incredibly restricted and the police are crooked asf. As for the first world countries, I hear people constantly get hard over places like Sweden, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand and Norway and I'm not gonna lie, they got a pretty sweet gig going on but all those countries are sparsely populated and have zero diversity both in terms of their population and Geography. If you combined the populations of all those countries, they'd still be smaller than the state of California. It's not surprising at all that they'd be easier to manage.

I've seen constant rhetoric over the past 4 years about how awful and uninhabitable America is and it seems to only come from people who have either never left, or constantly refer to a country with far less drugs and no POC. Because of work, I've travelled to over forty different countries and have lived in 5. I can tell you from experience that there is literally no better place to live.

You gotta measure a country by how it treats its people... and America does a pretty piss poor job of taking care of it's have-not's compared to just about all other developed nations. The amount of homeless and incarcerated is definitely
at some very ugly levels..

Perhaps it isn't quite third world - Its not like the USA is Haiti or Tanzania or Bangladesh, but its certainly not all that it boasts about or promises... Id say it's a lot closer to somewhere like say, Brazil, than many of it's European and East Asian contemporaries it loves to look down upon...

Hey man, Youre talking to someone who has also lived around the world and done a fair amount of traveling for work... Gotta say, Ive felt safer in every other country I have lived in so far, than the USA, and only one of those was on your list. Hell, Ive felt safer in Mexico City than in parts of Houston Ive driven through. It really depends upon where you are from and what you have seen in America as to what your opinions of it might be.

I really dont hate America... I am just embarrassed with how it fails to fix its issues or even try... There are parts of the south where the life expectancy is worse than Cambodia or Bangladesh and an Infant mortality rate that is seen as beyond unacceptable even in other diversely populated developed countries, ... parts of just about every American city where violent crimes rival the rates of those in poor Latin American capitals... The way we leave our teachers behind nation-wide, and therefore our students... the incarceration rate being higher than any country worth a trip to... And an income inequality that is so absurd that even just one dude could conceivably eliminate homelessness and still have enough to buy the NBA and go to space.

America is as rich as the Yankees and boasts the talent of Babe Ruth, but squanders what it has so that it bats Mendoza line....and then still claims to be the best. There are so so many great things about America... and it definitely is a rich country, but you cant be the best if you're sometimes one of the worst, and you don't do anything to change it.

Funny you never mentionned Canada. Its huge, multicultural, safe and working very well. Its only to the north of the US. Our cultures are very similar, but our homicide rate is significantly lower. On that note, when was the last time Ottawa Parliament was stormed, attacked by far right wing fringe groups to stop an election process?

American exceptionalism is great and all, but its gotten so out of hand that most elected officials (and electors) truly believe nothing is worth changing because the US is perfect; while a staggering poverty rate is on the rise.

Im not touting Canada's awesomeness, our system needs improvement on all levels of government. When I watch political news in Canada, discussions work and the opposition has been doing a great job criticizing legislation and making modifications so the system improves. The US is so different; no legislator understands the bills they are signing and only following party lines.

The free market maximizes profit not efficiency. Leave the narrow mindset of production = efficiency and take into account how wasteful america is. The prevalence of waste is evidence of low efficiency. An efficient country has a driven, healthy workforce with low unemployment. In america, we have 1 in 10 people go hungry while throwing away food into guarded dumpsters.

They are not far left at all. They are quite liberal, yes, but Libertarian stances on things such as civil rights are lacking due to their views that hierarchies are inevitable, if not required.

They want freedoms for a lot of things, such as freedom to use cannabis or freedom to choose in abortion rights... therefore they are liberal, but some of the things they want freedom for allow for the exploitation of people, animals, and the land... Everything is thrown out the door in lieu of the almighty dollar... A full, anarcho-libertarian for example, would call for the abolishment of all form of government, and the freedom to do shit we would find a bit extreme.. such as the freedom enslave people, or dump toxic waste - as long as it makes them money, they do not care..

Libertarians have strong adheration to individual freedom to do whatever the fuck they want whenever they want, even if it hurts society, so long as it allows for one to accrue wealth and power.
