DeebieSkeebiesAny tips for dealing with upset patients? Getting grilled by them as I try to asses them is scaring me haha, I don't want to lose focus. But its still a bad day for them so I get it but still. Im just a wee little rookie patroller.
2 things to remember: you didn’t make them sick or get them hurt. And then having a shitty day doesn’t mean they can be an asshole to you. They’ll swear, be blunt, say stuff without filter, etc. but no matter what they should not be abusing you or harassing you.
And at some point you just ignore it. You pretty much always prioritize physical health over mental. You can’t not treat, assess, etc because they need someone to talk to in the moment. In a perfect world you can address everything at once but you can’t. The best thing I can tell ya to do is talk through everything you’re doing(it helps you at first and also the patient). You’ll address anxieties and fears in the process and answer questions before they’re asked. But unfortunately sometimes it’s just not the priority
