Frankenski vs magnus 102

gilbertresselAs someone who has ridden neither, the Frankenski looks more attractive on surface level even with the similarities. Bamboo core, durasurf bases, square ass tips, hell the frankenski even has carbon stringers and that super proprietary triple camber and normally costs $100 less than a magnus 102.

My question is, why would you buy a magnus 102 over the frankenski, unless the huge rocker, bigger width and on3p hype accounts for the extra cost? (or do they just ski a lot more differently than I think they do?) Anton linden makes them look like they ride similar to on3p at least. Anyone who's ridden both able to provide some input?

RyanWhitdogThis may or may not be helpful to you at all. But I rode the new Frankenskis at the end of this season. I thought they were fun for all mountain oddly and on jumps, but lacked the kind of pop or liveliness I guess you could say, of some other skis when lapping rails. I would def go for the 182s if you’re in between sizes and are considering sizing up. I think these skis are a lot more fun if you ride them a size up from what you normally ride. But overall and all mountain, their triple camber thing feels sweet.

gilbertresselNah thats cool dawg, good to hear abt the frankenski not many people seem to talk about them. For Moment's specifically marketed park ski I guess they would've been a bit more poppy than you describe, although they do proclaim it a "jib ski"... this is probably where it differs from the magnus lol

Interesting to hear you would size up too, I assumed they'd ride pretty short because of all the camber points they have to fit on one ski.

RyanWhitdogWow. Didn’t know that thanks! Do other skiers do that? I know Mac Forehand has been on those Prodigy’s since like 2018, 2017 does he do that at all on old prodigy’s?

BradFiAusNzCoCaI can’t speak about Mac but I do know that, right about the time that most of the team switched from the CT’s to Prodigy’s, Alex Hall would ride some CT’s with prodigy topsheets. There was even a clip Alex hall posted awhile back where he is jibbing on a tree stump. It looks like he has a CT on his left foot and a prodigy on his right foot. In reality, they’re probably both a CT and the one on his right foot is probably from a pair that had the prodigy topsheet.

BrandoComandoIs Moment still doing that funky edge on the Frankenski? I always thought it was an innovative approach to have no edges directly underfoot for rails. Per Moment's website, I see no mention of it on the current version.
