Whattup ns, so my buddy is one of those guys that refuses to spend money on new bindings, he buys new sticks and slaps clapped out undersized binding on them that he finds somewhere in his garage, for example he bought a pair of kartel 108s and mounted them with some old Spx 10s that he ran like 5 years ago, then proceeded to crank his sun to 10.5. So anyways he’s broken about like 3 pairs of bindings in the last month and is currently just planning on having his destroyed bindings fixed. So I was toying with the idea of picking up the kid some new bindings for a graduation present and wanted to get a second opinion on whether some attack 13s would be a good fit, I bought some attack 13s for my mags and love them and I’d say we’re pretty even in terms of ability, do you think a guy who runs a ~10.5 din should go with something beefier or do you think that’s do the job? (I made this way longer than it needed to be yikes)
i was going to say, tell him you don't have to break the bank to get solid bindings anymore. get some Attack 13s and you got the best of both worlds, they're super popular these days cause they're good but cheap
you can get them for like 120-140 (sometimes even cheaper) and there are all kinds of color options in case that matters to you/him
his din is toward the top of their range but i wouldn't consider that an issue, that's not even within the range where some people say you shouldn't run them (some people generally say you shouldn't run your DINS on the bottom or top 1 or 2 settings of the range, but i have never gotten that confirmed; really knowledgeable people claim both sides of the issue). also the way you said it possibly implies he would run lower than 10.5 if he was on bindings he trusted.
i don't personally think he needs the 16s and they're more like $200+ (still a good deal tho)
I weigh a lot and ski a lot on ice and rails in the midwest which is about as abusive as it gets on bindings. I used to break bindings (marker, look etc) until I bought some Tyroillas. Now I have the Attack 16's and am on my second pair. Last pair lasted me 4 years and they didnt break, I just wore through the material in the heel piece that my boot contacts from going in and out so much LOL. The 13's are a great value for money and the main difference is some metal vs plastic in some spots. I opt for the 16's because I run 12 din but I would absolutely say the 13 is the correct choice.
