Help with swaps

tryna figure out what i was doing wrong. for some reason i kept doing 90° swaps at the end. the rail is short but still i definitely could do it i’m just not getting it around. i should get another sesh on the snow but then it’s to the summer setup when i have the right rail for it.

Rails a little short but not to short. Make sure you get your chest and hips the full 90. It may take a harder peddle on a rail that short. Otherwise your getting close!

Stance is way too upright gotta get into the skier position (similar to triple threat in basketball) so you can start pedaling/scissoring with that front foot to really generate a good pop to swap so you don't do some zeechy type shit. Bend your knees and absorb impact of sliding rail, slam that right foot into the edge of the rail thus putting you into "triple threat", hop and throw your shoulders and hips around to swap...to truly feel comfortable maybe practice sliding unat

Petzl switch ups are pretty tough. To get the right, have your shoulder facing the end of the rail when you land on it. By pre-loading a counter rotation, a good pop is all you need to get them skis around

Having consistent front 2s would help. Also a rail twice the length will make things 10 times easier

Go slower and just do a front 2 really early. That or do a back 2 early.

i couldn’t go slower but next time i’ll keep that in mind when building it.

Dude next time just dig it in on the snow up top who cares if it’s a down rail. You can always build it up which would give you more height to spin off at the end. It’d prolly help ya to have a bit less sketchy setup

one issue... i can’t hit down rails and my friend couldn’t even hit flat rails until the end of the day. but next weekend we’re doing it up higher and making a much sicker better setup

Great time to learn in the spring corn/slush. Just keep that pressure forwards and shift ur center of gravity a little forqard

i’m in 8th and got into algebra 1 so i actually had the chance to quit with no repercussions (other than not getting to do geometry in freshman year and not getting the 1/2 or 1 credit but whatevr) and i did like a month ago. glad i don’t have to do quadratics

tough with such a short/low to the ground rail. good because its low consequence but tricky because you have less time and less room to set your edge.

BUT you still got this no doubt.
Sounds stupid but you just gotta do it quicker.

Set the edge ASAP, open your hips, pop and commit. Might be helpful to go even slower and focus on setting the front side grip the very second you get on the rail. open your hips and shoulders as much as you can, pop as hard as you can and swivel those skis around.
