ThaLoraxNext time I talk to my dad, I'll ask him. He grew up in San Francisco in the 60s (except he was a jock 🤦♂️) and has some funny stories about them and their house on Haight Street.
Fun fact: The Sweetwater Saloon, the dive bar where they used to play in Mill Valley, is now a boujie older women's clothing store.
skiP.E.I.I see your point but does TGR really count? I don't think I've ever watched a whole TGR movie.
Max.broI usually dislike tgr’s movies because they’re just another powder flick (at least in my opinion I usually prefer park edits) but this one captures my attention literally every time it’s So sick
Max.broI need a new dead song to work on the guitar, fellow heads give recommendations
mrk127Ripple
Max.broripple was one of the first songs I learned because it was the only dead song people knew at parties

mrk127That's tricky trying to play both jerry and bobby's part
Max.broThe nice thing about ripple is bob is outlining basically the exact chords that Jerry is doing so I really only have to pick up the extra notes to make it sound more like there’s 2 people playing, I’ve seen some people do it really well on some more advanced songs like Mexicali blues
CaseyHonestly I just can’t get into them. Like I’ve seriously tried because on paper they seem like they should be one of my favorite bands in concept. It’s not like I didn’t do enough drugs, But it’s like every song just kind of sounds the same. I like friend of the devil and scarlet begonias but the sublime cover is way better

Max.broThe sublime cover of scarlet makes me laugh my ass off every time, it took me a while to like it but then I was like damn that rapping bit is funny as fuck

theabortionatorMeh, you don't have to be on drugs to get into the dead. That's way overstated. The dead are a classic rock band, countey, americana whatever.
They have hits. If you don't like them maybe it's just not your thing. It all depends on the person but if you like friend of the devil and scarlet begonias you'd probably like a lot more songs.
CaseyYeah idk maybe I’ll try again, I don’t dislike their stuff just found the albums kind of boring I dunno
theabortionatorArchive.org is a gewat place for live shows. Not just jambands. They have a pretty expansive dead collection though.
There were a couple other good dead dedicated databases but can't remember what they were called.
DummyBearsAnyone listened to the st Louis release? Also anyone headed to red rocks for dead and co looks like it's gonna be insane
Max.broIt’s on my playlist for today when I’m at work, also I wish man tickets sold out too quick 😔
DummyBearsI saw tickets at 500-600 dollars
mrk127Going to go see Dead and Company at the Hollywood bowl Tonight and tomorrow night. Stoaked

theabortionatorsugar megs or something like that was another one.
Trying to remember. There was another good spot.
Also I'm sure it still exists. And there's prolly plenty of other options these days but gdradio.com was pretty cool. To just throw on sometimes and see what they were playing.
ThaLoraxThere used to be an invite only torrent site called what.cd that has the most expensive live music (and recorded) collection I've ever seen, but it got shut down like 7-8 years ago.
hdubsHoly shit the dead bootlegs are unbelievably fantastic. I would even venture to say better than their actual albums
BraybladeBeen listening to a lot of dead recently. I’ve never been a huge fan of live albums but a friend recommended the Europe 72’ album and I’ve loved it so far. It’s got some of my favorite versions of Jack straw and Brown-eyed woman so far so I can only imagine what the other live albums are like, anyone got recommendations for other ones to check out?
