CaseyIf you have kids that can’t get vaccinated yet it’s like oh great the train is leaving the station without them. But I saw the zip code I live in is like 87 vaccinated already so what can you do, relying on each other to protect the most vulnerable is not really in America’s DNA anymore

The risk for kids is way higher for the flu, measels, driving and swimming pools so no need to worry

My work ended my telecommuting after 16 months of full time work from home, forced everyone back into the office this week, there was a huge outbreak of Covid and this afternoon they reverted back to telework for the next 6 weeks. EPIC FAIL

Damn. One plus of everything is it seems a lot nore jobs are going remote or having the option. My buddy moved from Oklahoma City to Portland because he can do his job now remote forever basically.

it’s uncharted territory for everyone right now, got word through the rumor mill Inslee is dropping vaccinate or terminate on Monday for all state employees shit is getting heavy.

Most of my coworkers refuse to get vaccinated, my stance has just kind of been whatever about that, I don’t want anyone being forced to do anything but at the same time I don’t want to be forced to be around people that can put my vulnerable family members at risk when variants are causing cases to spike it’s just dumb.

This is the problem with modern western society; its all about me and not whats best for everyone else around me. Notice how most vaccination hesitants or anti maskers are so self centered. Its always about themselves. Just read their slogans. They forget that these health mesures are about avoiding to infect others in case they unknowingly catch the virus.

Working on the ship is a prime place to catch and transmit pathogens due to our proximity to others and access to health care is very difficult if you do fall ill. Same goes to remote areas like the arctic, where there are no modern hospitals and no physicians for a 1000 miles. There are been already 2 deaths caused by covid in my companys fleet and no one got ill from the vaccine yet (we are obligated to have both doses in order to work here). Everyone must get a PCR test prior to board, rapid covid tests every second day for the 1st 2 weeks after joining and temperature checks daily. We are banned from shore leave if there is an outbreak in the city where we are docked… If any of us would catch covid, we would be all sent home without pay or compensation.

My point is when people resist health measure to beat covid, it affects my freedom to move around while at work and if any of us catches it, we would all be in financial trouble due to our seasonal work.

That is way worse than being « muzzled » by a cloth in front of ones face and frequent hand sanitizing.

100 percent- well and I work with a lot
of rednecks and it’s honestly like 75 percent about other people’s reactions to saying they won’t get vaccine. The other 25 percent is like some veteran conspiracy theory PTSD mixed in with some FB pseudoscience. “I already got real Covid not that synthetic whatever shit they put in the vaccine.”

P.S. Wear a mask. It ain't that hard.

I live in Austin, TX and I'm almost certain there won't be another lockdown here. The bars are packed almost every night, there's a constant flow of bachelor/bachelorette parties rolling through town and we still have South by Southwest and ACL coming up later this year. The way I see it, if you want to wear a mask, wear one. If not? don't. It's that simple. If you're afraid of catching the virus then stay home. I really don't see what's so controversial about it. Growing up in Oregon was rad but I couldn't be more stoked to be here rn.

The whole reason I got vaxxed was to avoid the whole mask thing. Fortunately VT most likely won't enforce another mask mandate soon but I think people should wear one indoors anyway. It's really not that difficult.
