mottdslrs suck imo but they definitely have ease of use when it comes to editing and storing footy, capturing off tapes is a bitch unless you have a dedicated pos camera for exporting. that being said i would personally go for a camcorder like gl2 or dvx100 and use a dvr capture setup.
WoFlowzI looked into the dvx when I was looking at the pd170 footy looks a bit more grainy then I’d like but I don’t know of a ski video that was for sure filmed on it. Do you know of any that were or have any you filmed yourself
mottEat the guts was filmed entirely on dvx100

motthonestly recently used a dslr of some sort with a fisheye and a cam caddie and i gotta say its a pretty good setup for follow cams, that being said i only filmed for like 20mins and it was for a skate clip. but the camera had a nice balance to it with the cam caddie and the clips looked good. if you wanna go that route its probably not a bad idea since camcorders are super expensive and the market for them is wack. if i had a lower budget i would undoubtably go that route
WoFlowzJust found a HVX200 for 500$ with 3 battery’s working and 2 tapes locally rly temptef
mottPersonally wouldnt recomend using hvx with tapes, its very worthwhile to spend the extra 200-300 for a few p2s
