Am I crazy or was there a time when people would shit talk on ON3P skis on here and call them rich kid skis?

Dont get me wrong - ON3Ps seem sick and I’m ALL ABOUT Indy builders but I swear I’m not making this up. Also, I swear there was a period of time where k2 was known as Chinese crap (whereas now people think they are “bulletproof”)...


Am I crazy or?? I’m just trying to make sure my brain isn’t frying

I used to hate most ppl on volkls when I was younger but now that I’m a little older and more mature I’ve realized that I hate all people on volkls.

I still think on3ps are rich kids skis. The majority of kids at my hill that have them are douches who’s parents own like 6,000 sqft slope side homes as a second house. They also don’t shut up about their summer camps and all the ski vacations they take. One kid went to pc twice, breck and keystone, and then killi along with going to multiple weeks of summer ski camp and wouldn’t shut up about it. Now would I buy their skis if I had the cash possibly. Would I be a douche and never shut up about how expensive and nice my skis are, No.

The only people I’ve ever heard call them rich kid skis are some 12 year olds at my hill who have never worked a day in their life. But I got them for 400 of the buy/sell page so that’s always my argument

Yeah I mean you can get a new blem for $500 and there are deals to be had.

To clarify, I was never commenting on this. I just remember there being kids who had mad hate and talked about kids with daddy’s money and their new ON3Ps. It definitely struck me as jealousy at the time, but I just remember being surprised at the attitude of some then and how it’s polar opposite now.

No one ever talks shit about Sego's famous OG all-mountain slayer: the Big Horn. Freeride World Tour champion Isaac Freeland is rocking these when he's getting after it in resort and in the park. They're pretty stiff underfoot but softer in the rockered tips and tails. They have a nice stable platform for landings, but those tips still flex enough for playing around. The also have carbon stringers wrapped in vibration dampening rubber... we we found to be on the damper end of the scale but you can still ollie over stuff pretty comfortably.

On3ps really aren't that expensive unless you are buying customs. Also they will probably last 3x longer than most skis out there. Also phenomenal customer services. Also made in USA. Also actually supports their team and makes fire segments.

K2 owns Line, and people have been ripping on Line's durability for years, but I think their cheap skis have gotten more people into free skiing than any other brand out there.

Seeing middle schoolers who can barely slide a flat rail to switch skiing in gear that cost 3x more than yours will always bug me a little bit lol

You're not wrong at all. I actually think both sides of the argument are very right. On3p do make very good skis, and the customer service does sound very good, but many of the people using them are rich and or spoilt kids, and K2's skis are cheaper than on3p, and they are made in China, but that doesn't mean that they're complete garbage. (Just my humble opinion.)

I own a pair myself but I saved up and baught them with my own money. I buy all my ski equipment and dont come from a wealthy family. Most people that ride them are rich though.

Maybe it's just me but, I don't really see this sterotype. The people I know and see with ON3Ps are more the dirt bag skier type who aren't afraid to spend a night in their car.

r00kieMaybe it's just me but, I don't really see this sterotype. The people I know and see with ON3Ps are more the dirt bag skier type who aren't afraid to spend a night in their car.

Yeah it feels pretty good after I have saved up enough money to buy a new pair. I feel like I put in a lot of effort and the skis will reward me for a long time for it. Also I feel like I see an equal number of 3+ year old on3ps as current year models, which is something I don't see in almost any other ski.

I used to be pissed off that jerry dads would only ride the bunny hill with the Salomon 1080s.
Then I got into mountain bikes and its so much worse.

At least jerries dont run ski resorts. Karens run the bike trail networks

I just want to clarify for everyone: I like ON3P. I would like to have a pair one day.

I just remember being much younger and seeing hate on ON3P as “rich daddy skis” and I remembered it. That is polar opposite on ON3Ps rep now (which is a good thing). I was just asking does anyone else remember this or am I misremembering from opinions on like one thread?

I don’t ever remember some sort of consensus that ON3P are for spoiled rich kids. I remember pretty much universal love for the brand as it was, you know, basically started here.

it's hilarious to me that vishnus are made in the same factory and they cost 450 and dps are like 1300. I've looked at some dps up close and they seem to be made of very similar materials too, at least in terms of topsheet/sidewalls

On3p is definitely not ridiculously expensive / unaffordable. If you can save $50 a month, you can buy a new pair every year. I don't ski hard enough to justify getting super nice skis like that, so I just rock some tom wallisch pros and have a great time on em.
