As much as you might think from my grizzly bear protection threads that i have a passion for killing things, i dont. I made that thread bc i think the idea of a man on his own with a tool created by his brain (weapon) being a formidable match against a 1500 pound, volkswagon sized grizzly bear. The idea of a grizzly not even giving a shit about getting hit in the head by a 9mm but getting dropped like a bad habit from a 12g slug or a 338 lapua or a 458 socom round really gives you a sense of the difference that kinetic energy makes.
but back on topic, i like reading about the borschardt pistol action and subsequent clones of it in the famous luger, because like everything else mechanical in this world the best shit comes out of germany.
Weapon reliability/dependability is also a cool concept because if your weapon could ever jam or malfunction, of what use was the weapon?
The physics behind suppressors also gets me off. Like how to create turbulence in the suppressor chambers so the gases sort of spin out their energy without being released.
Also interesting is the idea that government needs to pull its disgusting cock out of decent law abiding citizens asses with regard to stupid gun laws that dont do anything to stop the killing in the inner cities which is 99% of the gun related crime in this country.
heres an example of the borschardt
