I'm seriously considering going to college in the area, and I was wondering what the area has to offer for a skier. From what I've found so far it seems like an amazing area with decent skiing not too far away. I'm also big into sea kayaking, mountain biking and skating, which all seems to be present there. Anyone have extra insight?

I did a year up there at WWU it was cool, kind of had my own issues at that time so I just drank and did drugs every day trying to manage going to school didn’t really work for me at that time. Mt Baker Ski Area is large and in charge tho hard to argue with that

Not many places in the country where you can live on the ocean and be super close to world-class skiing. It would be sick to have Canada in your backyard. Seattle and Vancouver are close too, which means you can easily drive to some really cool big cities for culture, sports, and events. If you can afford it, do it

You got mount baker they dont really got a park tho but the big mountain tooo good there. I know there's a big hill for mountain biking with sooo many trails don't know about skating our sea kayaking but I would recocomed i have a friend going there next year seems nice.

Dude Bellingham is awesome, if I ever decide to try college again I'd really want to go to WWU. Galbraith has some amazing bike trails, Mt. Baker is sick, and just the entire vibe is super chill and laidback.

You get to ski at Mt Baker which, IMO, is the best ski area in the US. There are places to do just about any outdoor activity you can think of nearby. Great hunting and fishing spots as well.

Downsides are it rains at least 50% of the year and WWU is a pretty typical super-liberal college/student body. I guess these might not be downsides for some people.



TL;DR:

Do it, Baker is fucking sick.

Bellingham definitely has all of that. I'm in seattle at uw but have friends at western and they love it for all those reasons. if you're fine with the rain and it being dark for a large portion of the year, it's worth it. There is nothign better than spring in the PNW

bellingham is super cool i stayed there for a week in the summer when i was younger. super close to baker and if you get a nexus pass you can cross the border easily and go to north shore mountains within like 90 mins or whis for further. lot of cool skating and mountain biking too
