Logistics of mt hood summer moves

My brother and i are heavily considering sending hood this summer as we have nothing to do and skiing is cool. Neither of us have planned a trip like this on our own so I'm looking for some logistics advice that'll help our dream become reality. The main issue is transportation. We live in Maryland and my car simply wouldn't make it to mt hood and back. Both of us are also under 25 so renting a car isn't an option. If we stay somewhere off the mountain to save money are there any cheap/free ways to get to and from the mountain with our skis? I'm talking shuttles, public transportation, etc. That aside I'm also looking for any other misc advice that could be useful on a trip like this. Any and all wisdom is appreciated

A car is more capable than you think. Seen some absolute heeps running across the country and heard plenty of stories on here. I twice drove my 200,000 mile dodge neon from Michigan to Colorado and back when I worked out there. Misfiring and burning oil the whole time.

Car is really the only way, there is a bus that goes through govy and such but I think its very infrequent. You could ball out and stay at timberline lodge but you're gonna be spending alot of money.

You either want to go or you don't. Drive that shit box till she blows and then ask your parents/gofundme to bail you out. I drove a $400 car everywhere for 5 years. Just pour oil in every time you get gas.
