How to properly pre order skis

So im ordering a pair of wets on saturday to be sure I get the graphic I want, But if I wont get them for a while im worried ill grow to much and end up with a pair thats to small for me. Im 13, about 5'9 5'10 in ski boots. 140 pounds and I would say intermidate level skier. Any advice is much appreciated

depends on how much you thnk youll grow in the next couple years, if your gonna be 6,2 in the next year or so id go 189, but if you think you'll stay under 6 foot for the next few years then stay with the 183 fo sho

just get 189s they ski small

No you will be fine. Chronics aren't near as rockered as V's so the V's will ski shorter.

sorry i must've misread, i thought we were just talking 183 vs 189, which is why i said 183 no doubt

what's the next size down for vishnus, 177? that's currently the perfect length for you so getting something else could only be caused by your concern that you're going to grow a lot soon and you're 13 so that's definitely possible but you'd have to grow like 2 or 3 inches within the lifespan of these skis for it to even be an issue

also keep in mind, by the same token (the fact that you're 13) you don't want or need park skis towering over you. get the 177s they're the perfect length for you at this time. what's your skill level, in park and out?

Chronics are pretty true to length, only minimal rise. Get the 183 Vishnu’s. They will ski shorter

definitely not the 177s; the rocker is so extreme that they would feel almost shorter than a 164. to account for growth I would say 183 is the perfect size; you’ll thank me when you see the side profile and realize how incredibly short they really are with the addition of the rocker

yeah but that's the point, one of the desirable attributes of the ski is they ski short and are surfy and swervy. they didn't make them that way so that people could get longer skis. i'm a huge fan of big skis, some of mine tower over me, but a 13 year old doesn't need park skis that are way over their head and all he'd be doing is cutting into the performance he's presumably buying them for

if you want or need park skis taller than you, great, but young people asking others for advice on ski length will not benefit from that at all. and the NS echo chamber just keeps repeating the "size up on vishnus" advice to everyone regardless of the specifics of the situation

nah you will be fine i am riding 164 chronic and im much shorter so i will go for 177 but i’d definitely go for longer plus the wet ride small go for 183
