Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs

I plan on moving out to Steamboat in the fall to attend the Ski and Snowboard Industry Program at Colorado Mountain College. Has anyone attended CMC in Steamboat, or any of the CMC campuses? My main hope is that I can learn more about the industry I'm passionate about and hopefully live comfortably as a ski bum. The degree consists of two AA degrees which makes a Bachelors in Applied Science, so I'll come out with a 4 year degree. It seems almost too good to be true for someone whose passionate about the sport, so I just want to make sure it's not. So if anyone has any experience with the school or Steamboat Springs in general, I'd love to hear from you.

Dude steamboat springs is hella tight. I've never been there in the winter, but I stayed in the CMC dorms during the summer for a few weeks. I'm not the best source but I can say with absolute confidence you're gonna have a good time.

Steamboat is mad fun, the terrain isn’t mad gnarly but anywhere you go on the mountain you’ll have a good time with good snow. I don’t live in steamboat but I ski there a bunch.

I guess it depends what you're looking for. What does that program entail? I have a few friends that went to cmc leadville and are working various industry jobs. More on the mtn ops side though.

Ya its basically a degree thats more in depth on the business side of the industry, meaning classes entail how to buy/sell gear for a shop, how to boot-fit and make insoles, theres an entire SIA certificate you receive by learning the ins and outs of SIA and the show, also how to manufacture and advertise skis and snowboards, as well as the business side of running a ski resort, so similar to the mountain ops but more overhead on the business side of things.

You ended up at cmc steamboat??. I’m thinking ab going out there fall of 23 for the ski industry degree
