I am so tired of wearing masks. I am vaccinated and yet I still need to wear this thing on my face. Fauci can't give us a number that is an acceptable rate of vaccination or infection that we can work towards. So many of the mask policies are arbitrary and useless, and most people know that.

What will it take for people to just say fuck it and live like normal people again!?

Israel crossed over the 50% vaccination mark today and lifted the outdoor mask mandate. Everything I've read says ~60% is the magic number for herd immunity. The US better start lifting restrictions once we get there.

i mean most states don't have outdoor mask mandates here anyway.

i bet herd immunity is closer to 70% for covid, reasoning being us is at 50% (ignoring children but many of them have very limited outside contacts and they do not spread the disease very easily at all) and 10-20% of the population already had covid, Assuming half haven't been vaxed yet (in line with the total population) that gets us to almost 60% and cases are still a bit flat here in the states

another month of vax should easily get us there

The vaccination takes 2-3 weeks to start working the immune system. Also, 1 vaccine isnt a silver buller. Two is after a week or so.

The was probably the best part of all of this. One thing I hope people take from this tho is to wash their fucking hands and not go to work or school while sick. And I hope teachers realize that its better to have kids miss a few days and not get everyone else sick than to assign so much missing work that it's almost impossible to make up assignments without missing others

I'll never understand the anti-mask stuff. I don't even notice wearing mine anymore. Obviously, I'm ready for shit to get back to normal, but I don't get it when people act like masks make it so hard for them to breathe.

Just cause you have the vaccine doesn’t prevent you from spreading the disease to others. I don’t think it’s a wise idea to end mask mandates until the majority of the population has been vaccinated. I also think after the pandemic wearing masks when feeling ill will be more normalized like it is in Europe. After all masks only protect you yourself so much. But protect other people more

It would be unrealistic to allow exceptions to the mask mandate for people who have been vaccinated. Imagine being a business owner and asking every single patron who entered your establishment for proof of vaccination. It's easier just to ask people to continue wearing masks. Is it really inconveniencing you that much? Quit being a bitch. Be a team player and wear your god damn mask.

This is literally not true cdc (and real world evidence and most people with a brain) have found that they almost entirely reduce transmission.

That’s my reasoning but I’m also not a virologist. Coming up with an exact number is pretty tough. Spread rate models have a lot of variables and it’s incredibly difficult to predict exactly when we will see a drop in hospitalizations. Policy makers are doing their best to keep people safe and would rather be accused of overreacting than under-reacting.


Dehumanizing? Jesus Christ dude it’s just a mask. Do you have the same opinion about having to wear a shirt in public?

You can still spread covid with the vaccine, you may not feel sick because you are pretty much immune. And until enough people are vaccinated covid will keep spreading and have a large infection rate. Idk what you’re expertise is in this but my moms one of the people in charge of vaccinations in our area and all my information comes from her🤷🏼

there’s no science proving a cloth mask will prevent Covid spread. It’s actually been proven now that states like South Dakota and countries like Sweden who never locked down and never wore masks legitimately have the same Covid infection rate as locked down mask wearing places.

The CDC says they *could potentially* spread it (meaning they don't have proof that they don't) and then literally call it a "residual risk."

Use your brain here, if you could spread it with the vaccine, having more people vaccinated wouldn't stop the spread, which is obviously not the case.

Only time I put a mask on anyway is going into stores, appointments wich is no biggie and apparently neck tubes are acceptable at the resort so no change there. It's the American thing to to, do it fir your country you stubborn Republicans.

We are all wearing them up here in the northeast. You have to wear one in every single store. Down south in Florida and Georgia you don't have to wear one at all if you don't want. The death rate and infection rate in the northeast and down south are essentially the same.

Your argument is "IF" wearing one saves lives... thats the problem. IF means that wearing one doesn't even mean that it would save lives. At some point they need to go away and considering that the science is saying there's no correlation with saving lives then I believe the time to stop wearing them is now. We have a vaccine pretty much distributed to everyone who needs it.

If you're really still that worried about catching covid you should be locking yourself in your house and not going out. Because a mask "may" help prevent the spread... but we clearly see it doesn't stop it altogether, and in most cases it doesn't stop it at all.

It is nowhere even close to a fair comparison. Facial expressions and non-verbal communication are critical. Seeing smiles or how people are expressing themselves is important...especially for children.
